My day job involves consultation work for several big studios, and several of them already have specific clauses in their contracts that forbid any bespoke reporting/research work passing through AI during the process. WeTransfer is literally, legally, not an option for me now.
If this is accurate, WeTransfer is unusable for professional creative work. Would violate most work-for-hire contracts to share copyrighted material with a third party like this.
Bye forever, WeTransfer.

An alert to all creatives using #WeTransfer. Basically, stop immediately! As of August, they will begin scraping everything you send for AI purposes (see the new paragraph in their Terms and Conditions below).

If, like me, you’re a voice artist, they’ll clone your voice. Avoid at all costs.

WeTransfer just changed their TOS giving themselves permission to train AI on any content you transfer and produce derivative works based on content you transfer that they are allowed to monetize and you are not allowed payment for.

Stop using WeTransfer.

1/2 You could write a book about one atrocious headline in print NYT today

(I sort of wrote this book 30 years ago, Breaking the News, but others can take a turn.)

What's wrong this headline? Mamdani "faces scrutiny" **ONLY AND EXCLUSIVELY** because NYT decided to make this a "thing."

Really bad.
