What a night, what a performance from this far from 100% team, one of the great European nights at the Emirates.

Declan Rice has produced two of the greatest free kicks you'll ever see at this level, and we 100% deserved that third goal too.

Incredible. This team deserves so much love. #arsenal

I am laughing because the left thought that Dems were not standing with them enough on Palestine because they wanted to win moderate votes. Whereas they were just inept. Clueless to the core.

A failure to act at this moment won’t send voters running back to the Democrats. It will send them to the next strongman and his fanciful promises—or just to this one.
Democrats, Stop Being Timid and Start Being Mean!
Democratic messaging is failing to meet the moment. It’s time for the party to embrace the anger and rage of its base.

Idiocracy captures the sentiment well, but it's much a work of fiction.

People think survival of the fittest and just translate it to the strongest. No. If dumb people rule the world, it might pay to be dumb too. If in doubt, remember Brexit and the experts.

“People voted for Trump based on their recall of the 2017-2020 economy—stimmy and superdole included—and simply did not encounter and/or believe reporting about his plans to be a dictator” fits the available facts much better than “a plurality of Americans voted for Trump to be a dictator.”

Not an original thought at all but it is truly astonishing how many people just invented the version of Trump they wanted in their brains and voted for that instead of like...the actual guy who campaigned to be President

Every now and then, I meet a rationalist. Oh, how I got news for you. People are not rational. They are very emotive beings that are easily prodded in the "right" direction, with or without tangible success stories to sell to them.
To be fair, the Dems have not tested the combination of (1) getting shit done, and (2) having a leader who can explain what is being done to the American people in a vigorous and coherent way.

The Biden Admin had (1) but sadly not (2).

"competitive authoritarian regimes" - this is gold! Even if you are bad, you still have to be good at being bad.
And before you idiots say "blah blah we won't have real elections," get fucked. One hallmark of competitive authoritarian regimes is their guys start popular and stay popular. Imagine if Modi, Duterte, Bukele, Orban, or any of the rest had been underwater on the *economy* in under 100 days.

It's going to be funny when the world avoids the Thucydides Trap and a new power is born because the US (Republicans) is busy fighting a culture war - debating trans sports, migrants, eradicating black history, renaming places, gutting woke Unis etc. - while China takes over new technology.

So, how many are willing to volunteer right away? That's the crucial Q.
