Watching this again and once again the kids are mesmerized. A perfect film
An expression of corporate ideology is how they keep remaking the literally perfect Chuck Jones version of THE GRINCH THAT STOLE CHRISTMAS to "update" and "modernize" it instead of trying to make any new children's entertainment in the same style as the extremely successful original.

The decline in Trump's popularity comes from a few places:

1) Hispanic MAGA finding out that they're not white.

2) People that voted for ramping up racism and xenophobia, not being smart enough to connect their recent financial ruin with the racist policies they are happy to still support.

Unfortunately, yes they did.

ICE raids are still his most popular policy.

It's late November, 2025, and 89% of GOP still approve of the job Trump is doing on immigration.🤦🏿‍♂️

52% of white people approve of the job Trump is doing on immigration.🤦🏿‍♂️

He said what he was going to do, and he's doing it.

A reminder of how traditionally, one of the top priorities for leftist governments around the world is universal literacy, in part so that the working class can be educated enough to become ideological and advocate for their class interests bsky.app/profile/jaso...
I've been thinking about this but from a union democracy perspective. I think AI is stupid and the devil but many union members (in my industry anyway) are no-college and maybe even functionally illiterate.
I think more than anything else AI feels like a miracle to people with questionable literacy because it can read and write for you, and a lot of us who are highly literate underestimate how many of our society's leaders, esp in business, struggle with literacy.

It's pretty much mandatory at work that I appear to be using it, so I've doe a few functional things with it, and it's a moderate time-saver if used right. But nowhere near worth it's stock value, energy cost.

Then I realize there's a lot of people who simply can't write coherent paragraphs.

And the folks who are actually writing full-time generally only got there after years of day jobs, family support, or both.

The point of sharing this is not to demoralize anyone, but to let emerging writers know they're not failing if they can't make a living off writing alone. Almost no one can.
almost every novelist you read who's not from the airport fiction or bestseller sections is working a full on day job, including multi-award winners and absolute legends, or they have a spouse or trust that supports them. virtually across the board. just normalize in your mind that's how it works.
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.
