The past two years under the Biden Administration, homelessness rose by record levels as people struggled to afford housing.

Now, the Trump Administration wants to make it even harder on people.

Absolutely appalling.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

cut a few more FAA staffers. that’ll fix it.
Within the span of 90 minutes on Tuesday morning, two airplanes, at Washington’s Ronald Reagan National Airport and at Chicago’s Midway International Airport, were forced to abort landings to avoid collisions, federal aviation officials said.
Two Planes, in Washington and Chicago, Abort Landings to Avoid Collisions
The near misses on Tuesday came after a string of aviation disasters, including the midair collision between an Army helicopter and a passenger jet last month that killed 67 people.

Listen, I'm not some super smart efficiency knower but it seems like a constant barrage of emails from conflicting sources demanding that you do this to keep your job or do that to lose your job might actually prevent people from, you know, doing their job?
NEW memo from OPM acting director Chuck Ezell saying that fed employees should respond to the 5 bullets email by the 11:59pm deadline tonight unless they had an excused absence today. Absolute madness.

if nothing else I hope this era finally makes clear that government is a SERVICE, not a business. everything isn't designed to make money.
I will never forgive the people who bought into the "government should be run like a business" bullshit.

LA Firefighter Brandon Smith, who founded an org to recruit and train incarcerated firefighters to get jobs on the outside, lost his home in Altadena. He's raised $2,885 out of his $45k goal. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could get him over the line?

As you’re seeing these fires ravage California, remember: 30% of the state’s wildland firefighters are incarcerated people, paid $5/day to risk their lives. When released, they’re often banned from firefighting jobs. This is exploitation, not justice.
