The BrikWars guy. Former Lego guy.
Concept designer and illustrator behind many of your favorite Lego themes and games, and somehow also the old Roblox logo. I know, I can't explain it either.

Hi! I guess I need some kind of intro here. I'm a designer with a long history at LEGO and a bunch of digressions into tabletop and video games. I also made the original Roblox logo and BrikWars. Currently freelancing in illustration and whatever odd jobs strike my fancy.

I find it hard to sit down and play AAA games myself tbh, i had to *force* myself to spend 3 hours every weekend sitting down in front of my TV to get through The Last of Us, like with a timer and everything.

Do you think I EVER needed a timer for Balatro, Dead by Daylight or Elden Ring?

Scrubbing toilets, cutting down trees, digging trenches, replacing drywall. Can't help but think I spend an awfully large chunk of my waking hours on manual labor every day for someone who's nominally a white collar desk worker

I have a vision of the KPDH sequel where Celine's "your faults and fears must never be seen" isn't a demon hunter tradition, it's Celine trying to protect Rumi from what the Sunlight Sisters' dark Bobby did to Rumi's mom

So I've been studying Danish vocab in case we need to move

Man is "man," solid choice, easy to remember

Woman is "queen," strong value statement

Girl is "piggy," now hold on a minute

A few weeks ago I was in Denmark dining on Michelin star meals and running into Tom Cruise and hobnobbing with elite LEGO designers and now I'm back in regular life and we've been so busy that the deep weirdness of that transition back and forth didn't hit me until just now

What even is my life

"This could take down Democrats, too."

I know. And I frankly wouldn't give even an itty bitty damn if it implicated every Democratic man in Congress, every Democratic hopeful for 2028 and every Democrat who has even thought about running for office.

Down with the sex predators, wherever they are.

I think there's room for nuance here. I spent decades at odds with a whole population of friends because their favorite author threw up every red flag for me. Reading his work felt like getting stuck in the head of a casually abusive sociopath.
Here's a thing that I despise: When someone is outed as an abuser, TERF, terrible human, and ppl start going "I never liked them anyway" "I never found them funny" "They never wrote good things to begin with" and seriously shut the hell up. All of that is just to position you are superior and (cont)

Some BETTER LETTERER for you. And before the inevitable "that's not how I do it" replies, keep in mind that, by and large, this is how it's done in pro American comics (Marvel, DC, etc.) I've worked for all of them. More tips: blambot.com/pages/letter...

New game idea: Football Manager: Grade School.

Manage your team from age 6 up as they level up skills like paying attention, knowing which team they're on, not throwing tantrums, and remembering to show up to the game at all

I think this could be very funny

The past month or so I've been hearing a lot of non-parents opine that we shouldn't try to insulate kids from sex and violence and whatever else because they need to know about that stuff.

Here's the thing:

I truly can't stress this enough: No one's art is good enough to justify them being miserable to work with. Almost everyone I've worked with has been wonderful, but the handful of folks that weren't brought the whole team down by being egotistical, sexist, condescending, etc.

This is a noble sentiment but I have no obligation to "the platform" or whatever purpose the discourse jockeys fantasize it's supposed to be serving
Blocking hatemongers is one thing but this trend of using mass block lists to avoid hearing from people who might or might not hold points of view you expect to disagree with is unhealthy imo and hurts the platform.

Bluesky was better off with folks like Margaret Mitchell and Giada Pistilli on it.

I've never been a fan of Connecticut, but I'll miss our little lake community if we move to Denmark.

For Halloween the neighbors up and down the street set up campfires in their driveways with full-sized candy for the kids and drinks for the parents.

In the space of 36 hours:

flew home from Europe
kid's school Halloween costume (Louis Pasteur)
kid's neighborhood Halloween costume (Optimus Prime)
kid's birthday party (climbing park and arcade)
kid's soccer game (we won)
daylight savings round 2 (US version)

It's not hard to believe Sauron had an obsessive labeling compulsion, and would bend his armies towards that purpose with great map-spanning earthworks.

What's unrealistic here is that the words are facing us, the readers, rather than his great ever-reading Eye atop the tower of Barad-dûr.
The real problem with Mordor's geography is that the word MORDOR is written across it in giant letters. Not credible, Professor.

Arrived in Billund just in time for the daylight savings change. Glad to get that extra hour of sleep.

Enjoying getting to tell everyone interminable rambling stories about all the things that have changed since I was working here 20 years ago. Whether anyone else is enjoying this is debatable.

Running into other LEGO people at the airport like

"Which part of LEGO did you work in?" every part

"You're from the US, which part?" every part

I never got to stay at any one place long enough to have a solid answer
