The BrikWars guy. Former Lego guy.
Concept designer and illustrator behind many of your favorite Lego themes and games, and somehow also the old Roblox logo. I know, I can't explain it either.

When it came out that he was, in fact, a casually abusive sociopath, I wasn't looking to position myself as superior. I just wanted acknowledgment of how my discomfort had been dismissed for so long. Maybe not an apology, but recognition for them to maybe not be such dicks about it next time.

Unless "victory" means making sure the opposing party only gets 90% of what they want without ever advancing any priorities of our own, in which case congratulations on decades of victory

( I wish I was saying this as a joke rather than being 100% sure this really is what you mean by victory )

What "fighting" are you getting back to, exactly? The 1990s?

There are whole generations that have grown up without ever seeing an elected Democrat fight for anything besides their own fundraising. Telling us to rally around fictional past heroics while we're dying in real life is an insult.

I'm still using mine from 2007 on Win11.

I seem to recall I had to trial and error a whole series of ancient drivers to find the one that worked, but once I did I've had no problems since.

See also: every other thing non-parents think parents "should" be doing.

In an ideal world with infinite time and resources, sure. In this one, maybe consider you aren't completely aware of the problem constraints

The question isn't whether kids need to know about sex and violence and injustice and everything else.

It's about what the cost will be to scrape out the time for that out of the million other fires that need putting out.

It's not that kids need their innocence preserved. It's that some stuff requires context and support to process, and context and support is work. It takes time and effort and labor.

Parents, as a rule, are operating at an incredible deficit in those key resources, all the time, every day, forever.

Twitter-style "discourse" is a fail state, not a goal
November 4, 2025 at 12:11 AM
Twitter let a cohort of the world's most insufferable assholes turn it into a debate bro hellscape, and that cohort thinks the world owes them the license to ruin every new platform in the exact same way

But consider this painfully obvious counterpoint:

no it doesn't

Best of luck to the ethicists, but they're not entitled to my attention any more than anyone else here, and the fact they think they are makes me suspect maybe they aren't actually that great at ethics?

"Doesn't work for my purpose" isn't the same as "doesn't work"

That's the zone where you've given them the bouquet but not the Mermaid's Pendant yet

Same boat here! Scrambling hard to prevent that fatal final thousand dollars of income.

But also it took me way too many seconds to figure out there was a word missing in the parentheses.

"How is that detail relevant? Something seems... off. Oh"

Best way to make your brain understand you don't have time for a tabletop game jam? You know it: a tabletop game jam!
November 3, 2025 at 3:07 PM
Yeah, we're of two minds about that. Sell everything and start over, or leave the house and furniture etc in the care of family?

It doesn't make sense to bring any more than fits in our suitcases; shipping costs are more expensive than abandoning everything and starting fresh

Stuck overthinking the interpretation and it was going all Hamlet: sleep perchance to drama, slings and arrows of that outrageous Monica, etc

Shakespearean in its gravity
