But also, I told you when used effectively shame works. The problem is Elon isn't shamed by normal things like the weight of being responsible for the deaths of 600,000 people, or being a white supremacist or whatever. Oates just landed on a pressure point.

See I know my limitations. I am very bad that this threat assessment and just assume everything is out to kill me. This is why I don't go into nature.
The thing about living in forests, I think, isn't so much that it's scary and tense as that you have to be really good at a specific kind of threat assessment. Many things CAN kill you, but whether or not they'll expend the effort to try (or might do so by accident) is something you have to learn.
You can always tell when folks who didn't grow up in nature are getting into a mystical nature kick because they talk about forests like they're these serene, perfect, peaceful places. No friend, nature is scary and tense as fuck and you're looking at a place where things live and die BY THE MINUTE.

if you genuinely think Schumer and Democratic leadership opposed this & Republicans coincidentally got exactly the number of votes they needed to avoid a filibuster and none of those votes are from Democratic Senators who are up for reelection in the midterms next year, I have a bridge to sell you.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.
We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.
We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

WE HAVE WHAT?
Missouri's native tarantulas are known by their scientific name, aphonopelma hentzi, or their common name, the Texas brown tarantula. They have brown, black and gray hair all over and are about the size of an apple or orange. (@stlpublicradio.bsky.social)

The brown tarantula is about the size of an apple or orange. University of Missouri-St. Louis scientist Becky Hansis-O’Neill and her team of students have been using an app to track their locations, tag and measure them, and learn how to protect their populations.

Fun fact WeWork, one of the poorest run businesses I ever watched from the sidelines on, burned through 500m dollars in 6 months.
Based on these numbers Open AI burned through that same amount in about 4 days.

It's not truly petro masculinity unless it comes from a specific region of Texas / Oklahoma. Otherwise it's just sparkling capitalism.
The truly maddening thing is that, unlike when I was a young man in science and the materials and engineering just weren’t there yet, the future is *right there.* The problem is *solved*. What’s holding us back is not just greed, but this bizarre nostalgia, an obsession with petro- masculinity.
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

You know, for a guy who supposedly isn't "motivated by the money" and touts that he doesn't take a traditional salary, they sure did have to sell this pay raise as "We need it to keep him focused."
