When you say you need good art to make comics and that's why you need generative ai, it signals to me the narrowness of your understanding of comics and why it is that you think you can't make them

When I was writing my space opera trilogy a few years ago, I decided never to use the word "race" to refer to alien species. I used "species," "peoples," "civilizations," etc.
I've also tried to stop saying "human race" in casual conversation.

The far right is obsessed with Lord of the Rings and Musk keeps posting about "hobbits" because modern scientific racism owes more to fantasy worlds and gaming systems than genetic science, and they see both as effective mediums for right-wing propaganda www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

Now now, after the break-in they changed the password. They changed it to "password" - careful, they tried to trip you up with two "s"s.
Every time someone’s like “put that in the louvre,” my head now goes “and then steal it from the louvre, the security password is louvre”

My dudes. Helping break down patriarchy?
*That doesn't fall on women and NB folks*. That falls on the men interrogating the system they benefit from and trying to confront the systemic biases.
And that sounds really big. But it can be a lot of small things too.

Men need to realize how much they can take advantage of these deeply-held biases to believe and support other men to *help* women and nbs.
The ask is not inaction. I want you to be here too. I’m asking for action: tell the people around you about the non-men in your life making things you like.

This whole thread is very good. This is true in SFF.
I mean, it's true in society because ~patriarchy~.
Blind spots don't earn that name because they're easy to recognize. It takes active, intentional effort to overcome them.

Another day, another man who only lists his top designers as other men.
I kinda wanna challenge men to name their top 10 female designers… it’ll be like that “name a woman” meme…
People just don’t think very deeply about the preferential bias we have toward our own gender and race.

See I know my limitations. I am very bad that this threat assessment and just assume everything is out to kill me. This is why I don't go into nature.
The thing about living in forests, I think, isn't so much that it's scary and tense as that you have to be really good at a specific kind of threat assessment. Many things CAN kill you, but whether or not they'll expend the effort to try (or might do so by accident) is something you have to learn.
You can always tell when folks who didn't grow up in nature are getting into a mystical nature kick because they talk about forests like they're these serene, perfect, peaceful places. No friend, nature is scary and tense as fuck and you're looking at a place where things live and die BY THE MINUTE.

if you genuinely think Schumer and Democratic leadership opposed this & Republicans coincidentally got exactly the number of votes they needed to avoid a filibuster and none of those votes are from Democratic Senators who are up for reelection in the midterms next year, I have a bridge to sell you.
