The average water level measured at Virginia Key (near #Miami) set a new monthly record high in October, which is also the new *all-time* record high month.
I also feel confident that it was the highest monthly water level there since the last interglacial period... ~120,000 years ago.

Climate change "doesn’t automatically mean all hurricanes will become powerful,” @bmcnoldy.bsky.social said. But it makes it more likely that an average storm will encounter factors that help it intensify.

BREAKING: Our crowd count estimate from the No Kings coalition responsible for planning today’s event is 7 MILLION nationwide.

7 MILLION of you gathered across the country to peacefully protest today.

2 million more than the first No Kings action in June.
It's official. Nearly 7 million people. Today is the single largest day of protest in American history. Americans from all corners of the country are standing up and saying #NoKings. This is what peaceful, patriotic protest looks like.

Twenty years ago today, Hurricane #Wilma reached its peak intensity, and achieved the lowest central pressure of any Atlantic hurricane on record: 882 millibars. At that peak intensity, sustained winds were 185 mph in the eyewall, which was only a record-small 2.3 miles in diameter.

Nighttime is supposed to be a break from the day time heat. But that relief is getting harder to feel.

So far this decade the number of days that lows failed to dip below 80 degrees has already doubled compared to the 2000’s. And the decade isn’t even halfway over.
