It was 62 years ago #OnThisDay in 1963 that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Here's a piece I wrote for the History of the BBC website a couple of years ago about how the BBC covered the news.

I'm quite pleased with this one...

Well, this is pretty terrifying. The Daily Mail is buying the Telegraph.

One massive consolidated right-wing media empire controlled by off-shore interests at a critical moment in global politics.

What could go wrong?

I also write about how little the floods have been covered in national newspapers, and how appalled I am that the Prime Minister has said nothing to the people of Monmouthshire directly. Please read and share. www.thenerve.news/p/storm-clau...
Storm Claudia puts Wales under water – why did these record-breaking floods barely make the news?
On the frontline of a deluge on the Welsh borders, Jude Rogers heard local stories of devastation and heroism – but incredibly the disaster was hardly referred to in Westminster and the national press

Looks like the poster editions are gone. There was a Herzog’s Nosferatu set with two slipcovers and two posters that doesn’t seem to exist on the Gruv site now. End of an era.

Beginning of the end for Shout/Scream I think. Looks like they’re liquidating.

The MEN is now the only local newsroom in Greater Manchester that has more than a handful of staff reporters, but go back 25 years and it would have been one of a dozen.

Our weekend read is the tale of what’s been lost.

What have we lost? “Something hard-to-define but powerful” writes Jack Walton. “The sense that a particular place matters; The knowledge that a group of people are going to work every day to chronicle not just any little corner of the planet, but your corner.”
