Pressure is building on Matt Goodwin’s team following The Mill's Friday exclusive.

We reported that Reform UK broke the law in Gorton and Denton after sending out campaign letters from a local pensioner, Patricia Clegg, without a legal imprint.

Now, her son has spoken out.

Reform UK are seeking to fob off blame for their illegal leaflet on a printer error. That won’t stand up with the police - responsibility for making sure the law is followed lies with the party commissioning and distributing the leaflets.

EXCLUSIVE: Reform UK just broke electoral law in Gorton and Denton.

The party confirmed they sent out campaign materials without proper party imprint, something it insists was a mistake.

Wow - @manchestermill.bsky.social catches Reform UK sending fake letters to residents without saying they’re from Matt Goodwin’s campaign, a glaring breach of electoral law.

When we asked Reform about this, it said it commissioned the letter from Clegg with “with the full and correct legal imprint”.

But, “it has since become clear that an error occurred during the printing process." In other words, they blame the printers.

The law says “any material which can reasonably be regarded as intended to promote or procure the election of a candidate” must include the name and address of the printer, the promoter of the material and the person on behalf of whom the material is being published.

Constituents received a letter from a concerned pensioner called Patricia Clegg, a lifelong Labour voter who is planning to switch to Reform.

What they didn't know was Clegg was writing it on the party's behalf, because they didn't label it properly.

The strangest thing about this state of affairs is how recent it all is. For a long time, Manchester specialised in a particular line of trade: textiles.

While these were central to the city's success, they also became central to its decline.

In Manchester, productivity is up, demand for office space in the city centre is climbing, and the population continues to grow at a lick. Why does such an economically successful city not have its statement businesses? And should we even care?

“I’m a massive, massive skeptic of whether that will work in Manchester,” business journalist Michael Taylor said in one video a few months back.

In 2021, when it was announced Soho House was coming to Manchester, it was ridiculed.

But it wasn’t by snooty Londoners paling at the thought of going beyond the M25, it was Mancunians that balked. The members' club was elitist. We didn’t need it, it wasn’t us.
