What's the best parent-child song of all time? Kathryn Williams' Sea Of Shadows, off her new LP, Mystery Park, is up there for me. A few others follow in the next post, as well as Michael Stipe & the Roches, Hollie McNish, Jerry Stiller taking his son to the Village Vanguard, Eno at 50 and more...

Preach.
Why is this such a big deal in Wales? London has been 20 for ages and it's fine, a nice speed to drive at, you get used to it being the default so quickly & now I even find driving at 30 in other places too fast.
Caerphilly apparently. I honestly, honestly despise this stuff. They have nothing to offer, nothing to say, nothing to hope for, nothing to aspire to, no solutions, nothing. Just hate and lies.

This is incredible
The BBC are accidentally running the subtitles to Mrs Marple over the Mercury Prize, and it’s rather wonderful. A few of lines could plausibly have been written by Jarvis.

Complicated Mercury Prize feelings as I love the winner (it made me weep on a mountain road in Powys the first time I heard it #perimenopause ) but am also full of the ire that MY FAVOURITE WAS ROBBED. (Also wish the show was live. We’re still on fka twigs.)

THIS
Indeed. How about a big expensive HB for those want them, PB published first — nowt worse than lugging a cumbersome brick-sized edition to bed/work/holiday. The most impractical format.
My strongest book-related belief is that the paperback should come first and then the hardback after for people who want a fancy edition.

Brian Eno's Another Green World is a beautiful, tricksy album, summoning the wetlands of Suffolk and a playful yet melancholic childlike sensibility. A joy to speak to @juderogers.bsky.social about one of my favourite albums for tQ's Low Culture podcast:
