Artworks - v. by Tony Harrison - BBC Sounds

A fascinating programme but it was particularly spine-tingling to listen to a recording that Tony Harrison made of reading v. in 2013. It is still one of THE great 20th Century poems. ❤️❤️#BookSky💙📚

SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.

There's nothing like leaving things to the last minute!
I'm busy prepping for the Knitting and Stitching Show. I'll be doing a demo of my jeans into skirt make with box pleats on Thursday.
If you're similarly last minute and don't have tickets yet LASTMINUTE will get you £4 off. 😊🪡🧵🧶

A terrific trilogy with the sweep and scope of a European classic. History, politics, romance, the natural world, days at the races and nights at the casino - there’s so much to enjoy here! #BookSky 💙📚
I like a trilogy that gets thinner with each volume. Gives you a real sense of hitting a downhill run after volume 1.

Barry Lyndon - huge screen in a full house as part of the Festival Lumière. What else is there?
La Cienega - Martel, I was not familiar with your game. The sound is audacious.
Castaways of Turtle Island - a funny, late Nouvelle Vague?
Throw Down - I didn't know movies could be like this!

Ormeau Book Club today and I am a little nervous today because:
a) I put the book forward for selection
B) one of my mates at the book club really, really hated some elements of it (if Storygraph review is anything to go by 😬)
FWIW, I really enjoyed it… #BookSky💙📚

Aaaagh! No. I immediately rescind my choice because I re-watched Todd Haynes’ ‘Far From Heaven’ on the Big Screen this year and when you talk about colours…
🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It has been a slow year for me but I would probably say ‘Ran’ at the QFT. Seeing the colours popping off the screen, the landscape unfolding in awe-inspiring scope and the complex choreography of the conflict depicted was memorable. Made for the Big Screen.
What is the best movie not from this year that you’ve seen this year? Bonus points if you say why
