A Glastonbury Romance by John Cowper Powys and Owen Glendower by John Cowper Powys. More people should read his extraordinary work and the reporter might get them publicity/get them republished. #BookSky💙📚
alright let’s get something more pleasant going. what two books would you leave out on your coffee table so a reporter can mention you have them. doesn’t matter if you’ve read them. for me it’s Pale Fire (which I did read) and Ulysses (got like 15% of the way in)

Loved the ANNA ANCHER exhibition, which recently opened at Dulwich Picture Gallery.

So pleased have curated a film tribute to the late Peter Watkins with ICA London. First up, 22 Nov, his film Privilege, a swinging 60s artefact which hobbles the swinging. At its centre, a rock-star-as-empty-messiah, played by Manfred Mann’s Paul Jones. More soon!

A bit of Henry James and a bit of Edith Wharton, with a seasoning of Ibsen. What does that make? Well, misery OBVIOUSLY but strangely (and I don’t know why tbh), there’s a bit of hope too.
Not much though (but agency for the protagonist, at least).
That lush, romantic score though… ❤️❤️❤️

You just couldn’t vote for Labour right now, regardless of tactical voting / FPTP etc, you just couldn’t.
Not with a clear conscience anyway.

Absolutely. I do read some long books, but they tend to be realist novels. Big, sweeping epics that combine the personal and the political, e.g. stories about times of political turbulence viewed through the lens of couples or families. Olivia Manning’s THE BALKAN TRILOGY springs to mind.

I really enjoyed this movie.
Usually I'm not a big fan of secret society / conspiracy type things, but all this worked for me.

Very entertaining throughout.
Perfect performances from everyone.

Somewhere in my top 5 of the year
