I think “sayonara you weeaboo shits” is the only time in history that a brand has 100% understood its audience.

We really don't need to do this. Valve: 1) provides a good product; and 2) isn't actively trying to destroy the planet. That's where it ends. They still have a history of horrendous customer support, tacitly encouraging gambling, and allowing harassment and bigotry to be fomented on their platform.
Just a reminder that Valve Corporation, which runs Steam, has donated exclusively to Democratic candidates and the Democratic Party in federal elections for 2020, 2022, and 2024. It's one of the few tech companies still aligned with morality. They deserve credit for standing with democracy.

This. The flu changed the pitch of my voice, killed my ability to sing, and made it so that I get a sore throat if I have to talk for more than an hour. Get your flu shot.
That reminds me, I gotta get myself a flu shot soon. Last time I had really bad flu, I was coughing so hard I burst a blood vessel in my eye and it tore up my throat so badly I can't sing high notes anymore.

The flu can completely fuck you up.
Leading flu experts predict this will be the worst flu season in a decade.

The most mediocre people on the planet have been salivating at the prospect of “AI testing tools“ for months without being able to provide even a smidge of an answer to the very obvious question of how said testing tools are supposed to be tested.
Square Enix wants 70% of its QA work to be handled by generative AI by the end of 2027, in partnership with the University of Tokyo's Matsuo-Iwasawa Laboratory. https://bit.ly/4qKdyQR

Periodic reminder that Gamergate was a specific anti-feminist movement, not a convenient shorthand for anything vaguely right-coded related to gaming.

This isn't a fully-developed thought, but I think part of the reason Twitch's reaction to Emiru's assault has been so much more casual than fans' reactions is that Twitch perceives its viewership to be a lot more socially maladjusted than they actually are.

Spec Ops: The Line deserves to be remembered as more than just a critique of Call of Duty (if it even is that). If your games criticism starts from the premise that gamers need to be taught lessons, you are inevitably going to limit your conception of what games can say and accomplish.

Microsoft wants to make “I should be able to set up a computer without Internet access or an online account” sound like the complaint of a crackpot instead of a perfectly reasonable demand.
Microsoft is plugging more holes that let you use Windows 11 without an online account. Microsoft really doesn’t want you creating a local account on Windows 11. Full details on the changes 👇 www.theverge.com/news/793579/...

This is good —the Mayor of Yellowknife NWT in Canada’s far north weighs in on “Car Bloat” (truck bloat actually) and its many big costs & consequences (thanks @davidzipper.bsky.social for heads-up). And like most who dare tell the truth about that, he’s taking flack.

Forgot to post this when I put it up, but here's my August 2025 video game diary.
Video Game Diary: August 2025
Another diary in just under the wire. In this month’s entry, I talk about Dear Me, I Was…, Donkey Kong Bananza, Dragon Age: The Veilguard (finally finished!), and Strange Jigsaws.

Bent. Amanda Peet and David Walton as leads. J.B. Smoove and a young Joey King. Jesse Plemons before he was married to Kirsten Dunst.
Everyone has a 1-2 season TV show they sorely miss and not enough people knew about that you are always praising the heavens about.

What's yours?
