I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

Gosh, thanks, Google (whose algorithms have long pushed users toward extremist content, because profit is everything and humanity is nothing, to Google).

This narcissistic attitude that sees a vote as a curated extension of your personal brand or a version of a celebrity endorsement is going to be the death of this nation.

Connor... Ronald Reagan and Pope JPII were both *shot* in 1981.

There were 125 DOJ-cited *domestic* terrorism incidents recognized in the 80s alone.

Oklahoma and the Olympics Bombing were in the 90s.

We're the SAME AGE. You should know this.

Elites and institutions have not “collapsed.” They have not “changed their tunes.” They have not “failed.” They are not “cowards.”

They were and are simply been focused only on their own self-preservation and profit.

Nothing has changed. They simply made a cost benefit analysis, and fascism wins.

Listen, fighting the good fight is hard. Keeping the faith up day in and day out is hard. Staying above the fray is hard.

BUT!!

We’re all adults here and there are no rules saying you can only buy a cake on your birthday.

Go to the store and get a little cake. It will get you back in the game.

Two recent decisions in cases against Meta and Anthropic may seem like clear wins for AI companies that train their models using copyrighted books and articles—but the truth is far more complicated, Alex Reisner writes:

Love to have everyone mad at me specifically because library services are underfunded. My darlings, after the zero-ing out of federal support hits the state library and they decimate the funds we have for that whole category of things, you will remember today's Unacceptables with fondness.

Folds: If we’ve been told our whole lives that we can’t spend money on the arts because they’re not important—then why was taking over the Kennedy Center and the arts the first thing they did?

It is extremely important. It’s the bedrock of self-expression.
