we see very clearly in public polling that people in california and D.C. hate the deployments and that americans broadly disapprove of them, but here we have an assertion that the smart strategy is to avoid any discussion of the situation in favor of a pivot to, you guessed it, kitchen table issues.

I’ve gotten some negative feedback about the language I used about Columbia. Although I accept people choosing their own tone, I decline to accept tone critiques from people who wish to follow decorum obediently into a ditch. Columbia’s leadership is contemptible Vichy scum.

The internet is real life, as they should say, and ask any moderator of any forum what policy is required to keep the peace. It’s always the same: there has to be someone willing to point out who the trolls are, steamroll whatever endless series of lies and pretexts they throw up, and punish them.

I’d go one further and say the gradual moral collapse of our society and our politics is a direct product of the growing social norm where you cannot impute bad faith or immoral motive on people and institutions who clearly exhibit both.
i'm often accused of being uncivil for my willingness to go at people's character but it is not my fault i live in an age where some of our most prominent commentators clearly believe in nothing
