This guy is such a dumbass, he is polarized by ai hate to be shilling for expansive views of Disney copyrights
This lawsuit is brutal. One of the exhibits is the letter Universal sent to Midjourney, including a quote from a 2022 Forbes interview that I bet midjourney regrets

Here is how it works. The consumer takes the place of the worker in traditional populism, i.e the consumer is the virtuous downtrodden common man whose labors are truly essential unlike the degenerate [insert thing here]
It's tempting to see this just as an excuse to avoid paying extra money but this is actually at the core of how most consumer backlash movements in America work. It is, in its own way, an actually held belief

Some Harvard Donors Still Want It to Strike a Deal With Trump
Harvard frantically tried to avoid a showdown with the Trump administration. Now many of its big donors are pushing the university’s leaders to back down and renew talks with the White House.

That is real
SCOTUS is afraid of standing up to POTUS and him refusing to abide. They know they have no army. They assume they are being clever to avoid confrontation. What they lack is belief that the people will back them. Because they gave up on the people and democracy long ago.
This Court refuses to acknowledge the bad faith of this Administration.

Had the entire Court signed on to the very straightforward factual “Statement” of Sotomayor, Kagan & Jackson, it would be different.

Given the outrageous nature of the facts & this Admin’s recalcitrance, this is not strong.

Makes sense a deficit in football is when you’re losing
Trump: "I spoke to a lot of leaders -- European, Asian, from all over the world. They are dying to make a deal, but I said 'we're not gonna have deficits with your country' ... to me a deficit is a loss. We're gonna have surpluses or at worst we're gonna be breaking even."

“We do have authority over the Federal Courts. We can eliminate an entire district court. Desperate times call for desperate measures and Congress is going to act. So, stay tuned for that”

We have had nearly two decades of panic about Free Speech on Campus and not a single case, not even the ones they made up, were as bad as what's happening now
This is the text of the email just sent to hundreds of international students telling them that their visas have been revoked due to activism or social media posts.

I am BEGGING people to frame this properly. The issue here is not one colossal blunder where a reporter got info. The issue is it’s clear these people are all routinely ignoring the most absolutely basic security protocols, and WE HAVE NO IDEA what breaches this has already enabled.
I am glad that Senators are grilling DNI Gabbard and CIA Director Ratcliffe today.

Today should be the start of a 4-year drum beat on Trump's team putting US troops in jeopardy by sharing operational war plans with a reporter before undertaking the operation.

Too much is not enough.

I've rolled my eyes a bit at the "Mike Johnson gets it done!" storyline - he got it done by promising Rs that the spending isn't real, if they pass it they can just keep tweeting about stuff to Elon and he'll make Trump impound the money.
Boy it'd be terrible if that spending bill that's not going to be honored goes down, think of what might happen!

we are in a weird position where steak & shake can run an openly nazi-themed trump-positive advertising campaign but the press cannot print the analogy
this is why it's actually a breath of fresh air to read what journalists from outside of the US write about Trump. they understand his threats as credible. we still get frowned upon and tut-tutted as "alarmists" for saying the same thing heads of state from other NATO countries are openly saying.
the tragedy of American journalists is Trump is entirely serious about his drive for neo-imperial rule

- the inability to realize the current set of tariffs are illegal under USMCA

- missing that Trump is trying to kick us out of FYEY/NORAD

- missing that Trump has threatened to revise borders

The US is heading towards a presidential order to shoot protestors. Trump wanted to in his first term, the sort of officials who opposed it aren't in the second administration, and he doesn't fear criminal law anymore.
But I don't know how it'll go. Real human beings would have to pull the triggers.
I get the fear that the Musk/Trump junta are trying to provoke Americans to protest so they can invoke martial law, but that does invite questions about “who is gonna do the enforcing,” and further questions about “the regime is aggressively pissing off a ton of the people who’d do the enforcing”
