What we see from Gaza to LA is the same process. A state that is confident that it can label anyone who opposes its authority as terrorists or criminals in order to guarantee impunity for its violence. It is necessary to resist both its actions and its rhetoric.

A very smart colleague just pointed out the grim truth that the U.S. leaving the WHO may ultimately be a win for the rest of the world. Why? Because without a vote, “the US can't block WHO actions like vaccine programs, disease surveillance, contraception, etc”. Man, that is daaaark, but accurate.

misinformation is a very real issue, the problem was it was folded into a power-flattering pseudo epistemology where only grimy foreigners and YouTubers were capable of doing it when some of the biggest promoters of misinformation are the NYT and Atlantic. This bred cynicism and indifference.
Still wild to me that so many "savvy" folks on left and right have bought into the idea that online misinformation is overblown and doesn't really matter. From lies about migrants to transgender people to crime to election denial to climate denial, it's literally driving our country's politics.
