Taken captive after a botched raid, Revni needs to get north before she’s declared dead. Eavus needs to get her south to prove he’s not a deserter. To survive, they’ll have to decide who to trust–because they are both slaves & conquerors in enemy land & everyone else wants them dead. #questpit #F #YA

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

I wish more reporting on this made the point that novelists won't be displaced by LLMs suddenly producing literature instead of story mulch, but because decision makers focused only on the bottom line, who don't understand what makes a good book, will be persuaded story mulch has got 'good enough'.
New research by @mctd.bsky.social shows the impact of generative AI on authors in the UK. They found over a third of novelists report their income has already been negatively impacted by AI and 85% expect their future income will be negatively impacted.

You will never be able to make "data driven" decisions until you realize just how much your decisions are driven by emotions: fear of missing out, defensiveness of your favorite idea, apprehension over something unusual.

That's because there's no such thing as "the data" - only interpretations.

while I’m being cranky, access journalism needs to go. When the president does his “I’m alpha because I insulted you” thing somebody needs to fall on his sword and say “what the fuck is wrong with you, old man?” on a hot mic. the hero of the wizard of Oz is Toto.

We’re hearing helicopters and word is spreading of massive ICE raids tomorrow and Friday particularly in Gwinnett. These excessive raids put all of us in danger. Spread the word, look out for each other, and remember your rights.

A colleague shared her screen during a zoom meeting yesterday and one of her tabs was her inbox and she only had 7 unread messages.

She has worked there for at least 5 years. Maybe 10.

What kind of monster is this woman??

So apparently ICE is coming to Raleigh tomorrow. I'm a middle aged white lady. Can people please link me to the best direction to point my privilege? Just bought whistles and wondering if I should take tomorrow off to drive around.

We wrote this to help you imagine how quickly a city can change under Trump…

Charlotte was once a place of slow, easy mornings, coffee cups clinking in cozy cafés, jazz drifting through open doors on Tryon Street, families stepping onto the light rail with strollers and soccer bags.

This week, for the first time in seven and a half years of writing a weekly parenting column, I admit why I so rarely use it to give out advice. On experts, common sense, and being bad enough at parenting that I'd never tell anyone what to do.

And not to get too real on a late night post, but yeah.

I am *so* fucking done with people acting like this is normal. That the president of our country can just flat out lie and it’s not a big deal. That an entire branch of our government has been subverted to the whims of a serial liar.
As someone who has had multiple MRIs, you absolutely know what the techs are imaging before they put you in the machine, because if there is any sort of metal in the target area you *really* need to let them know beforehand since cleaning bloodstains out of the tube is NOT a good time
Trump: I had an MRI and the result was outstanding.

Reporter: Was it your brain?

Trump: I have no idea what they analyzed, but whatever they analyzed, they analyzed it well.

To be very clear, Virginia Giuffre was made to say she mistakenly identified Alan Dershowitz as one of the people who sexually abused her. Here is the proof from this week's Epstein files dropped by the House Oversight Committee.

Sooooo dementia sleepy Joe Biden is actually a mastermind who framed Trump by adding evidence to the Epstein Files. Which are a hoax, but are being investigated. After trump closed the investigation in July, and said there was no client list.

I was sixteenish in AP Lit and had no idea that you were allowed to write about whores and masturbation and also the impact of religion and also growing up and also and also and also....in a book people STUDIED.
