I’ve watched the Internet Public part of this delightful relationship and marriage since… shit, LiveJournal? Damn…

And, Goals, Really.

Gods grant all the years of Bilbo Baggins to them both, so we may ‘Awwwww’ for decades to come.
I climbed into bed and Kevin waited until I was in, then tapped his phone and it began playing the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and anyway, this is why I love him.

I GOTTA SCREAM.

This is literally treated as radical, outside-the-bounds of normal political discourse.

But Elon Musk gets $1,000,000,000,000.

Enough to by every unhoused person in America a $1.3 million home.

Enough to cover federal spending on school lunches for 57 years.
I just want everyone to have the experience of living in dignity with access to sufficient food, safe housing, needed medical care, high quality education, and time to engage with what sparks their curiosity and spirit

this should not be controversial 🫠

2/9. The amount is shocking because we’re thinking through the lens of normal amounts of money. But we have to remember: these people are not normal. Their wealth is on an entirely different scale. This tool is helpful for visualizing it: mkorostoff.github.io/1-pixel-weal...
Wealth, shown to scale
Wealth inequality in the United States is out of control. Here we visualize the issue in a unique way.

Exactly this — caving for nothing makes all that pain for nothing.

Further, them caving lends credence to this being just some political scrum when it’s actually much more fundamental than that!

Call those senators, please.
Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

At some point we have to let pain hurt Trump instead of helping him. Every time we let pain help him, he’ll do more and bigger next time.

Each acquiescence means the next one will be *more* painful.

Anyway! DAGGERBOUND by T Kingfisher! A delightful romp with mild to moderate Ursula-standard horrors and plenty of old friends I have sorely missed. Out next August, pre-order now!

I think with one trillion dollars I would just start buying land and giving it back to Native people. It would be working towards righting historical injustice, and at the same time would irritate the shit out of all the worst people.
If you spent one million a day it would take over 2700 years to spend a trillion dollars

Guys there are ENTIRE CATEGORIES that are hidden outside of your regular settings in this ridiculous app. All KINDS of stuff was default to hidden. Please go check your moderation settings, a thing you definitely knew about and isn't hidden inside several other menus.
Bluesky defaulting "rude" moderation to Hide instead of Warn is an interesting choice, especially when no one even knew that was a new moderation category

It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly. I just spent the last 2 months working on my next column
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

I have to imagine far-right Catholics are really struggling with the fact that they can now hear this stuff in English directly from the pope.
“How did you receive the foreigner? And did you receive him and welcome him or not?”

Pope Leo XIV challenges us to reflect on the moral cost of policies that target deeply-root immigrants and families.

The only people who disagree are the worst human beings imaginable and they deserve to be socially excluded.

Every human deserves dignity. Dignity requires material stability. Easy concept. The biggest possible tent that excludes assholes.
