This morning when Michael was leaving for work I stepped outside and told him he looks hot as hell, so watch out for bears. Then I noticed a construction guy in the driveway next to ours, working on the house next door. We nodded and said hello to each other as my hot partner drove off.

Feeling a deep melancholy tonight. Facebook gave me a “friend suggestion” of someone I used to know, back in the 1990’s. We were friends once, in real life. Back then, I flew with him to Washington DC for a conference on nonviolence and social justice activism. (continued)

In fact, B&N has been expanding rather a bit recently; their sales are up and they've refreshed their stores. And independent books stores have been growing in numbers too! It's been quite a turnaround for brick and mortar bookstores in the last couple of years. I hope it lasts.
I'm more shocked they're still opening new B&Ns.

Looking forward to reading The Eleventh Hour, the new book by Salman Rushdie.
“To ask Rushdie to restrain himself would be to lose the good parts too.”

Me on Salman Rushdie’s new story collection, where he cripples some of his best effects by not knowing when to turn it down. In other words it’s often brilliant, sometimes maddening, and always 100% Rushdie.
‘You’re a genius, obviously, Salman, but you’re also driving everyone nuts’
Salman Rushdie’s new short story collection, The Eleventh Hour, is exuberant, funny and sometimes just too much …

Cyndi Lauper delivered a powerful call to action during her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

My favorite del Toro movies are Frankenstein, Crimson Peak, The Shape of Water, and Nightmare Alley.
Today's movie was a second viewing of @realgdt.bsky.social 's FRANKENSTEIN, this time on Netflix instead of at the theater, and I liked it even better the second time around. I think I can say now this is my favorite of GDT's movies. (Though Crimson Peak still ranks high) SO Gothic.

Patti Smith performs her 2004 song “Peaceable Kingdom” accompanied on piano by Tony Shanahan. At the end she segues beautifully into the first verse of my favorite song by her, “People Have the Power.”
