Ph.D in Ancient Mediterranean.History. Mostly unemployed community college adjunct, and girl dad. I love spending time with my family.
Dissertation approved and submitted. The end run to finish this was no joke, but I did it.

Making my final pass at the edits for this dissertation, need to get this whole thing to my comittee by mid-November or before, I just want it done. I took at least 2 years longer than I wanted, but a lot of tough life moments happened alomg the way. #dissertation

I can say that all the parts of my dissertation have been fully drafted as of today, two years late pretty much. Last editing and formatting bits to do before I can get it in, this summer is it.

AOC: “They’re making people undocumented by removing LEGAL status, then having the audacity to call them illegal… correct?”

@govpritzker.illinois.gov: “Taking their legal right to be here away.”

@aoc.bsky.social: “The Republican majority is anti-LEGAL immigration, I want to make that very clear.”

This is an opportunity. If ICE officers start quitting en masse, Stevie Miller won’t have the people he needs to carry out his fascism.

Keep publicly shaming them.
Yes. I have heard this from both liberal and conservative people with sources inside the agency. It’s not just the pushback, it’s also that many officers want to believe they’re targeting the “bad guys” and this admin is telling them “screw you, grab families.”

Genuinely, morale is way down.
I think people are sleeping on how catastrophically bad ICE morale is right now.

Cost estimate of the House-passed "Big Beautiful Bill" is out

It'd be the largest cut to Medicaid+CHIP and SNAP in history while still increasing deficits by $2.4 trillion due to $3.8 trillion in tax cuts

This'd be the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in a single law in history

Sha.eful and sad, but not shocking. Pride began as, and still is, a protest. Most corporate sponsors are fair weather friends. It is telling when you pay attention to who stays.

According to a study by Penn Wharton, Trump's "big, beautiful bill" that pays for tax breaks for the rich by cutting Medicaid leads to a $700 LOSS in income for the working class, a $1,000 LOSS in income for the poor & a $389,000 INCREASE for the top 0.1%.

We must defeat it.

If they suspend Habeas Corpus, it won't just be for "migrants" or "illegals" or "criminals." If they suspend Habeas Corpus it will be for you and me and whomever this regime decides is unfit, undesirable, and a threat or a problem. This is how it works. This is how it's always worked.

So let me get this straight: masks are bad and un-American if worn to fight a pandemic, but good if worn by people claiming to be government agents when they kidnap people off the street

This is the 20th straight hour of Booker speaking. This is the energy and honesty we need in a Senate leader, not what we have been getting. bsky.app/profile/atru...
Booker: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I've confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.'"

A percentage of us knows, but the majority of Americans are uninformed, uneducated, and think all these policies are good. We are prisoners of the blissfully stupid folks. I say stupid because they choose lies and ignorance.
I think this will become clearer as we approach summer and tourist $$ start to dry up
I wonder if my American friends understand how much Trump has destroyed the US as a travel destination. People are legitimately afraid that they might be detained for weeks in conditions that violate human rights standards, and have no idea how to avoid that outcome. So they aren't coming.

The onset of autocracy begins quietly, in hushed tones, under the surface, behind closed doors & drawn curtains. It creeps in subconsciously. An insidious fear of speaking up, resisting, being singled out, watched, online activity monitored. The fear of retribution, losing a job, is real & palpable.

I will remind you that under Biden, America had the lowest inflation rates of any first tier economy (which was largely driven by corporate price gouging), the lowest unemployment rates, record union membership rises, and record small business startups, plus record investment in America.

A university’s duty is to steward knowledge, not surrender it. Northwestern’s decision isn’t just about one conference—it’s part of a broader collapse of institutional courage. What happens when academia stops defending the very ideas it was built to uphold?

Under the terms of the ceasefire deal, Israel should have been withdrawing from Gaza by now, but instead they have violated the ceasefire by carrying out nothing less than a massacre.

There is a moral obligation on all governments to stop arming Israel and hold them accountable for their actions.

Please share suggestions that cover subjects and individuals, whose webpages have been deleted. 🗃️
