OK folks. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices is meeting on Friday to discuss Covid vaccines. If it is possible, I do recommend getting a Covid vaccine before then. I know due to out of pocket costs and prescription requirements in some states it is easier said then done.

every day there is some of the worst news imaginable and then we all have to keep sending emails and filing reports like there hasn't been another mass shooting or another deeply reported feature about the horrors of war, technology, and new policies designed to hurt vulnerable people even more

Every reputable expert I know considers mRNA vaccine technology to be one of the most revolutionary advances in medicine in our lifetimes. Its inventors won the Nobel Prize in 2023. Shutting it down now is pointless self-harm to humanity.
Release from HHS: HHS will wind down its development of the mRNA vaccine development activities under the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA).

Holy cow. A $35 copay for every dialysis treatment???

“New Copays: A $35-per-treatment copay for dialysis and CKD patients above the poverty line could cost dialysis patients over $5,000 annually.”

The U.S. public health system is being systematically dismantled—vaccine oversight removed, research halted, worker protections gutted. This isn’t reform. It’s collapse.

WHN calls on the global health community to recognize the scale of this crisis and take action.

Reminder: Nobel-prize winning PCR (1983), used in basically all genetic tech today, was only possible because of extremophile bacterium discovered in 1964 in Yellowstone funded by a small ~$80k NSF grant with no obvious application at the time. #science 🧪

The myth that Medicaid and Medicare are “just for other people” is not only false it’s dangerous.
These programs:
✅ Train doctors
✅ Keep hospitals open
✅ Lower private insurance costs
✅ Provide elder care, disability services & more
They hold up the systems we all rely on.

Medicaid & Medicare are lifelines for millions.
- Medicaid covers ~1 in 4 Americans
- Medicare covers nearly all adults over 65
Together they fund:
Half of U.S. births
60% of nursing home care
Home health & disability support
Mental health & addiction treatment
You know someone who depends on them.

this is maybe trite at this point but it is in your interest to find ways to create things. basically everyone wants you to be consuming nonstop. making stuff, from cooking to photography or whatever, can help you feel more in control. doesn’t even have to be something you share with other people
