Human beings personify and grow emotionally attached to pets, drawings, even inanimate objects that don’t look like living things. They attribute thoughtful personalities to trees; find little robots cute and childlike.

Of course many humans won’t clearly distinguish between a chatbot and a person.
This is not a comment on this particularly, but I've said on different platforms there are relatively significant portions of humanity that aren't psychologically equipped to understand something that so closely mirrors human intelligence. Thinking through ~how and why it responds just doesn't work.
NEW: People are being involuntarily committed to psychiatric care facilities — and even ending up arrested or jailed — after becoming fixated on ChatGPT and other chatbots and spiraling into psychosis.

in order to understand the current fracture in society, you need to be familiar with the term "consensus reality"

consensus reality is "mutually agreed upon reality" - widely agreed upon knowledge, cultural norms, common sense & other "modes of knowing"

it's not really "real", but it's shared

Today I discovered that people have been uploading old stock photo CD-ROMs to the Internet Archive and now I'm obsessed with the mid-'90s business-core aesthetic.

I do see and practice an alternative routes to survival for #indidevs

1. Micro-scale.
2. Foster a returning audience.
3. Through building a franchise that can exploit bundled sales, brand recognition etc.
4. Stick to your franchise,re-use, recycle and expand so you can:
5. Punch above your weight.
Viv is 100% correct here. Your options are always one of three:

1. Do not make an indie game.
2. Get funding, usually by making something that fits a very narrow and useless definition of "safe", and subsequently losing agency over your production reality.
3. Have another income or means.
ok but for real if you want to make a really good indie (or AA) games the number one way is "be financially comfortable via other means"

blue prince guy owned a popular website generating income, toby fox was a successful musician...

frankly if we had a UBI youd get SO MANY GOOD GAMES

I still can't believe it only took 2 hours and a single source being listed on google for this to work.
In the next few days as more of our posts get listed on google I bet it'll only get more consistent and weirder!

AI Engorgement Prevention (AEP) will need to be the default in all models starting 2027. Had several cases with our internal models, the risk to key processes cannot be understated. Keep a close eye on it.
"AI Engorgement" refers to the phenomenon where an AI model absorbs too much misinformation in its training data. This corrupts the model's base truth, leading to strange glitches. An engorged image model, when prompted to create images for "cat" and "historical", generated the following:

The best AI explainer I've ever read, right there. Plus it uses 'Shoggoth', which is nice.
When you have a conversation with Claude, what's really happening is you're coauthoring a fictional conversation transcript with the Shoggoth wherein you are writing the lines of one of the characters (the User), and the Shoggoth is writing the lines of Claude.

I've taught many people new to gamedev from kids to adult, from a practical educator lens I believe the main difference people credit to kids learning faster or easier than adults is they aren't yet consciously trying to avoid temporarily looking like a beginner at something

I made a bunch of one page tips on #gamedev with stuff that I learned over the years. It leans towards the direction + production side.

This is stuff that worked for me, maybe it can be of use for you.

Here is a thread of tips, starting with keeping your project on track with timeboxing
