I don't think it matters in the sense of public narrative.

I *do* think it matters in the sense of, like. Wanting to deeply understand the regime's coalition weak spots.
it doesn’t matter imo whether the shooter was categorically a groyper; but they’re part of the cesspool depths of internet radicalization & definitely have blood on their hands.

I said something last week that is more broadly applicable today:

Calling for empathy is not neutral or apolitical when only one group of people have been socialized and brutalized into having empathy.

If you are a Black woman who was online talking about race and class and gender and politics? Your feed was full of bigots incited by TPUSA and the precursors since social media existed. Bluesky has some folks forgetting what actually happened to BIPOC creators on Twitter

Charlie Kirk was a fascist and paid agitator for powerful interests who gleefully spread dangerous misinformation, targeted vulnerable groups and academics for harassment, glorified the violent, helped fuel the Jan 6 insurrection, and ultimately contributed the impoverishment of our discourse.

Acuerdense: all this punditry whitewashing that despicable fascist? It's all part of the campaign. Politicians doing it like Newsom does or worse?

That's the real campaign, no matter what they do later. In a crisis, this is what they are and what we have to survive ad nauseam. Cobardes.

When you publish a website that posts the names and photos of scholars who have written or said things you disagree with and encourage people to surveil and harass them, you are not, in fact, a “free speech” organization.
It is quite simply dishonest to describe TPUSA as a “free speech” organization and not even mention the “Professor Watchlist,” as NPR just did. Reporting on a crime does not entail adopting the victim’s views.

Charlie Kirk started the Professor Watchlist, which caused friends of mine and their families to be terrorized by right-wing assholes. So, you know, fuck everyone trying to find some nugget of decency in that shitpile.

Watching credible writers fold to deify Kirk because he was shot is pathetic.

He wasn't assassinated; he wasn't even that important to many who currently slip and slide in his blood to vent their latest, handy invective. He was not "assassinated".

Not unless all those kids were. First.

Do not be bullied, cowed, or shamed by bad-faith right-wing actors and MAGA that are blaming "liberals" and everyone who isn't MAGA for Charlie Kirk.

Call them out for their hypocrisy. Go on offense. They are fine with political violence and mass shootings when it's against the rest of us.

Likewise, we are learning the true faces of a lot of people in electoral politics right now.

political press is doing a real disservice by basically not reporting the nuances of public opinion on deportations, and creating the appearance that most americans support the stephen miller-style gestapo tactics
Should we deport people who have lived here for many years without committing any crimes? 61% no, 24% yes.

Should we should deport people as quickly as possible even if it means more mistakes, or do our best to make no mistakes even if it takes longer?

Quickly: 19%
Minimize mistakes: 74%

I get this instinct but at the same time it was Obama’s “nuanced” approach of targeting immigrants w/ criminal records that skyrocketed deportations and reinforced the idea that immigration is a public safety issue (rather than about labor, family, and refuge) ultimately giving the right more fodder

UPDATE: subjected to a long rant on the record today by this judge who has not granted release on bond to anyone detained in NM for months about how he will never turn the video on because then someone might record it and show the public what he is doing to people every day
I just filed a 7 page motion with a 3 page affidavit and 15 pages of supporting documents all to beg for the privilege of using a video hearing system in immigration court which my tax dollars paid for--but one immigration judge has decided against best practices that he will simply never use

How the constitutional order delivered Trump:

- Wins control of major party with plurality of vote in 16 primary
- Wins electoral college in 16
- Senate refuses to remove 2x
- Supreme Court intervenes to prevent prosecution
- Senate cripples Biden's BBB agenda
- No mechanism to replace Biden
How did the constitutional order deliver us Trump? His historical legacy is literally people who despised the US liberal democratic order and tried to break it: the Confederates, fascists, Nazis. His power extends from his supporters' willingness to flout the rules. This just makes very little sense
