this is one problem with urbanist spaces being male dominated - their ideas of what is safe are completely different from mine, if they even ever consider safety. it's why they'll see nothing wrong with moving buses from nicollet mall to another street - why not, they'd go faster, right?
“If you want to build great cities, you build them for women. We are the ones out there taking more transit, hauling our kids and groceries around, making lots of the buying decisions, and deciding if our kids can walk or bike to school.”

- You have the right to not open the door unless you see a valid judicial warrant. It must have your correct address and name and be signed by a judge.

If you see any federal activity, call the MONARCA rapid response hotline at 612-441-2881. 3/

We’re asking you all to be safe. To support your immigrant neighbors who are fearful. To alert communities when you witness suspicious behavior.

According to our partners:
- You have the right to stay silent & to talk w/ a lawyer.
- You can refuse to sign documents until you talk to a lawyer. 2/

Dear neighbor, I want to let you know that we are witnessing increased enforcement actions by agents in South Minneapolis. There continues to be reports of residents being followed while driving, stopped and taken away. 1/

As we continue to learn more about the incident, we ask that you are on alert, keep the community safe, and alert neighbors about immigration enforcement you witness. No human beings should ever be treated like this. Children, especially, should never have to experience this. 2/

This evening, a resident was kidnapped by agents with face coverings. They disguised themselves in masks and as Uber drivers. They even left kids abandoned inside a car in the freezing cold. 1/

My favorite Election Day texts are the ones I get from my brother when he’s filling his ballot out in the booth 😂

If you haven’t cast your ballot yet, rank Michael Wilson, Tom Olson 1 & 2. And for 3, pick between Adam Schneider and Amber Fredrick! Let’s elect a progressive park board!

I’m asking everyone to vote for a new Mayor by Tuesday and rank all 3 of Omar Fateh, Dewayne Davis, and Jazz Hampton in whichever order you prefer. I’ve worked at City Hall for the last 4 years and from my personal experiences I believe the City desperately needs a new mayor.

Long thread 🧵

I might be missing 1 or two mailers, but I can confidently say this is the most election mail I’ve received in a citywide election year(or possibly ever??). Certainly the most mail I’ve received from Rainville, who is likely to be re-elected-elected & I will never be convinced to vote for him!!

I'm exhausted. This is our third very intense city election in four years. A week from today we will make decisions that we can't undo until 2029. So remember to only vote for good candidates, never the bad ones.

20% of the people on SNAP are 60 and older. 40% are children under the age of 18. 40% are adults ages 18-59. Additionally, 10% of those on SNAP have a disability, which means they cannot work. AND the majority of those who can work are working.
one of the most deeply infuriating aspects of american politics is close to half of americans would love if 20% of the country starved to death

3. Have rich friends flood the zone with PACs to buy him a city council that will immediately go to sleep after being sworn in.

I hope @dewayneforminneapolis.com doesn't mind me retelling a story he told me when we first met last winter. I kept it to myself because he wasn’t telling it publicly but he mentioned it yesterday. It’s one of the things that’s leading me to rank him first. A hope-its-ok-and-I-get-right 🧵:
Yesterday, I hosted an incredible event, "Ward 8 for a New Mayor." We talked about why we need a new mayor and then @jazzformayor.bsky.social , @omarfatehmn.com , and @dewayneforminneapolis.com laid out why they should be our next mayor. I came away excited about all of them and will rank all three!

I keep a diary.
It’s called The Long War. Letters to the Living.

Today I wrote:

The muscovites launched 465 drones and 32 missiles.
Many were shot down –
405 drones and 15 missiles.
The rest landed on our lives.

I made it about 12 minutes in and had to stop because I felt like I was actively losing brain cells. John did a great job as interviewer as always, but my god what a terrible candidate???
New Ward 11 candidate episode is out: Mariam Demello.

Due to our extreme height difference, I decided not to destroy her on the basketball court like I did to Jamison Whiting (RIP). We just took a non-competitive stroll around Lake Nokomis.

Far-right Catholics freaking out about the Pope doing normal Pope things will always be entertaining.
