So, I don’t care about this particular man, but I do want to point out that immigration officials pulled this woman aside after a trip to Puerto Rico, which is…not a foreign destination, which means they’re pulling and detaining legal immigrants in the regular degular airport.

Yes. If DHS can barge in, say your visa was revoked, be told you have a green card, say it's revoked too, and then disappear you so that neither your lawyer nor your family can find you, then all the guardrails are gone. There is no policy, practice, or law protecting anyone.

The carceral state exists so that we don't have mass protests and direct actions. That's its raison d'etre. It makes the stakes too high for the people most likely to join those actions and protests. "They can't arrest us all" or "they can't evict us all" only works in countries where that's true.
