We got tricked by science fiction into thinking a futuristic city is all about flying cars and crystal towers and hologram billboards but what it really looks like is nice apartment blocks, good mass transit, pedestrian zones with shade trees and safe bike lanes.

The eclipse was beautiful.

Also, my lovely wife, who was cursed to be a hawk, and I, who was cursed to be a wolf, are now free to be together again.

So that’s neat.

This. This is what feels missing from the general consciousness of cis people right now. People act as though it's not dramatically, almost unimaginably escalating. As if the sky hasn't actually fallen for so many trans kids right now.

This is such a thoughtful, kind post in response to a very hurtful action.

Chuck does a great job explaining why his pink mask is necessary.

I would add that people shouldn’t have to EXPLAIN to you why they do things that you don’t see as “normal” when those things aren’t hurting anyone.
just when you buckaroos thought 2024 would be a break from book drama, here comes chuck tingle in the mix. recently i was asked to be a featured speaker for the TEXAS LIBRARY ASSOCIATION conference. a few days ago they rescinded my invitation. here is what happened.

This this this this this. If I could disillusion abled people of one idea about disability, it's the idea that when you get sick, doctors will actually help you. This is almost always an abject lie, so much so that we all pass around the names of doctors who will like they're magic spells.
Part of why healthy people aren't afraid to get sick is- they think if they do develop long-term issues, they'll be able to go & get treated by doctors who will work day and night to fix them (as it was on House, M.D.) & don't realize there's a 99% chance they'll be told they just have anxiety

For cis folks who maybe don't get how bad it is:

Here's the map.

Red or Orange? There's at least a half a dozen laws that attack trans rights ranging from Healthcare bans to risking being arrested for "drag near kids" by being in public.

Dark green? Basic human protections.

That's the reality.

Let’s bring the action (of love of self and love of others)

Let’s go fuck shit up (by creating far-reaching systemic change that benefits the people who need it most)

Maybe don't make any jokes. Just to be safe. Even if you don't mean anything.
