What an interesting thread...and some very thoughtful comments afterwards as well
Any time I talk about a wealthy person's outfit, someone in the comments is quick to reply: "They're rich, you think they care?" No one has to care about my opinions or clothes, regardless of net worth.

But let's talk about the connection between wealth and aesthetics 🧵

Hey Canadian media! We don't care what come's out of Poilievre's pie hole until a time when he has a voice in our government. We turfed him fair and square, stop forcing him on us. And!!! make him pay market rent for Stornaway as he collects money on his rental properties.

Petition E-6488 is now open for signatures! ✍️ As the disabled community represents 1 in 4 Canadians, it is time we call upon the government to create the position for a Disability Commissioner. To learn more about petition E-6488, visit www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en.... #disabilityequality

Any folks out here with adult autism diagnoses have the experience where, as you slowly come to terms with your own version of autism, it gradually dawns on you how precarious your adult life has actually been?

Very different Mother's Day this year...twelfth without my daughter, but first without my mother.
Going to spend the day quietly appreciating my four earthside children, while I imagine Mum sipping tea with Starbaby, somewhere far-off and beautiful 🌟

With all sincerity, Elections Canada is a national treasure.

- Voting typically takes less than 15 minutes
- We make it easy for citizens to vote, without cumbersome registration hurdles
- We have every reason to trust that ballots will be counted fairly, and results reported swiftly

If you think a just-fertilized ovary is entitled to life but are indifferent to what happens to a kidnapped 4-year-old with cancer, sent to a dangerous country without meds, you don’t give a fuck about the lives of children. You are just in a cult that fetishizes being against abortions.

You can’t “try harder” your way out of disability.

Yoga and touching grass won’t cure chronic illness.

The hospital won’t magically fix you.

It’s not a vacation. We didn’t choose this existence. No one asked our permission.

It’s one of the only minority groups you can join at any time.

Canada is at a crossroads. Our sovereignty is at risk. The Trump regime changed everything, and now we face our own version with Poilievre. In 28 days, we decide what kind of country we want to live in. #cdnpoli #Election2025

It's collaborationist complicity to normalize the threat to our sovereignty, no matter how he tries to rationalize or word it. It's shameful that CBC is ignoring the fury this engendered.

Donald Trump says Canada has no right to exist.
I take the threat seriously. With our sovereignty on the table I support a national discussion on next steps.
But CBC thinks it would be fun to have an American DJ co-host whether we should exist as a nation.

just cancel it, Ian.

this is so shamefully embarrassing for you personally and for the CBC professionally.

It’s difficult to believe that the show is being planned with “care” when the language you’re using in the promotional material has been sensationalist and framing the threats from the US President as a “proposal”, as if there’s some element of mutuality.

Please remember that the ability to boycott can often be a privilege. Some folks are too poor to shop anywhere more expensive. Some folks don't have transportation, or are disabled, and can only shop places that offer delivery and can't afford to pay the fees for things like instacart/etc

Seriously
Stop it
The way Americans are joking about taking over Gaza, Greenland and Canada goes way beyond what normal people deem acceptable or the normal level of idiocy we all endure to get along. It is offensive. Stop it.
