Want to get people off SNAP? Start with minimum wage. Had minimum wage kept up with inflation and productivity, it would be $26 an hour. That would remove 13 million workers from SNAP benefits overnight.

Perhaps the most ominous satellite presentation we've seen. Cat 5 Melissa within 2 hours of landfall in Jamaica. Winds at 185 mph (tied for 2nd highest on record). Pressure at 892 mb (tied for 3rd lowest). Will be one of strongest Atlantic storms to make landfall ever recorded.

Great framing.
Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
