Where would we even begin to tackle the rampant lying, the vandalism and incitement, the absurd corruption or the war crimes? How would we do any of this without accusing most of the country’s important people of complicity, at best? Even just describing what’s been done is itself an accusation.

Some rare good news for trans people – the transphobic amendment to the Data Bill was defeated by a large margin. It would have forced trans people to out themselves virtually daily, putting people's safety and dignity at risk, so it's great to see MPs reject it comprehensively.

the proper response upon seeing a slaver is to hate him and to try to break his power and free his slaves. the proper response upon seeing genocide in action is to hate those carrying it out and to try to strip them of their authority and arms. hatred is not some mystical corrupting force.
The problem I'm seeing with leftists is they want others to hate America as much as they do but I'm sorry that's not going to happen and also that's no way to improve politics. We need people to love this country and want to make it better. This era has actually made me more patriotic.

I don't know that any piece of art is so important to me that I would continue to defend it, to make it part of my identity, or give it money while the artist did actual, tangible harm to marginalised people.

What's annoying is since 1980 conservatives have made steady progress in getting what they want: deregulation, concentration of wealth, weakening unions. This recent psychosis is the result of them winning too much, not too little
One way to think about the DOGE effort is it's an outgrowth of 20 years of hardliner conservatives frustrated by their inability to get the votes in Congress to do what they want to do. 1/
