Where would we even begin to tackle the rampant lying, the vandalism and incitement, the absurd corruption or the war crimes? How would we do any of this without accusing most of the country’s important people of complicity, at best? Even just describing what’s been done is itself an accusation.

The same thing was done to Jeremy Corbyn in the UK - years of hostility in the media forced a consensus that 'Corbyn bad', so that you had supporters a year or two before then saying he's not it, and he could be forced out with little resistance.

.. and are eventually exhausted enough that the antis can force the 'consensus' to be 'Sarkeesian bad' (or now 'Hasan bad'). So even people who were 'pro-Sarkeesian' end up thinking the takes must have been bad too.

I noticed this too. It's like the electric fence strategy, that gets used against a lot of other issues and public figures. The haters make sure that negativity dominates discussion every time anyone talks about them. People who aren't invested soon learn to stop touching the fence...
