I really struck a nerve here. I stand by what I said.
FROST: "They say they're pro-life because they want the baby to be born, go to school and get shot in the school. Die in the school, die on the streets."

FOXX: "You are not going to come into this room and impugn our integrity!"

My husband has taught human reproduction and development to the Cambridge medics for over three decades. When people start banging on about "only two biological sexes" he starts with "which sex: genetic, hormonal, or gonadal"?

Biological sex is not binary. www.scientificamerican.com/article/sex-...
Sex Redefined: The Idea of 2 Sexes Is Overly Simplistic
Biologists now think there is a larger spectrum than just binary female and male

The danger is that the spectacle of the entire British establishment grovelling at the feet of this neo-fascist will help mainstream his politics in the UK and push us toward the same dark path the US is on.

Massive civil society resistance is vital to counteract this. It needs to be enormous.

I explained it to several young teens today: imagine we wanted you to become more self-sufficient in the kitchen, so we decided to charge you $20 every time you got takeout. But also we have no food in the house, we won't let you go to the store, and also you don't know how to cook.
you have to be genuinely stupid as fuck to think american companies are going to respond to tariffs by building factories and moving manufacturing to the US. i don't know how else to say it. you have to be genuinely braindead

Longest speaking filibuster ever was 24 hours, 18 minutes by Strom Thurmond in opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

In a few hours, that record will be shattered by Sen. Cory Booker, a Black man, laying out the case for saving democracy from an aspiring despot.

HELP! I'm being inspired against my own will! I'm feeling seen! I'm uncovering hope under layers of cynicsm! Who is this spokesperson for a self-reflective party that is committing to fight back, and what does he think he's doing??
Booker: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I've confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.'"

moving forward I would like to see dems gum up the works every way possible. No unanimous consent, full votes on every tiny piece of business. I don't expect everyone to have the stamina to do a Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, but many lengthy floor speeches. Just slow everything down to a crawl.

And this is why “Are we on Booker’s team now?” is the wrong question.

He’s saying he wants to join OUR team.
Quite moving hearing Booker just now saying why he started this and referring to his constituents asking him to do more, do things differently, to take risks, and then referencing John Lewis. Sounds like he took the advocacy to heart.

I just received a text to donate given Sen. Cory Booker filibuster.

I looked the PAC up; HOLD THE LINE is a Republican/conservative independent PAC that contributed >$20k to Donald Trump in the last cycle.

Is this 💩 even legal?

Just so everybody understands, Booker has been speaking cogently about the issues the entire time and Strom Thurmond famously spent hours reading from the encyclopedia, because segregationists were and are dumbshits
If Sen. Cory Booker makes it to 7:19 p.m. EST, he will break segregationist Dixiecrat Strom Thurmond's record for his 24 hour 18 minute Senate floor speech against the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

For a long time, Columbia had a reputation as the Jewish Ivy. More recently, it's had the reputation of the queer Ivy. I don't think that stuff—or its physical location—is wholly irrelevant to the below.
Why does it seem like nearly every corner of the ruling establishment is obsessed with breaking Columbia University and crushing and/or eliminating progressive students & faculty? This has being going on for years. Maybe decades?

Is any other US university targeted as relentlessly?
