Find it surprising is that the upper earnings limit for national insurance still exists. Obviously no tax rise popular, but in making a political case saying it’s unfair high earners get a *lower* rate above 50k seems like an easier win than other tax raids for govts in need?

In case you're wondering, authoritarians use this strategy of escalation to manufacture crisis, provoke outrage, then use the reaction to justify repression. It’s not about restoring order, it's about creating a spectacle of chaos they can claim only they can control.
