NYT when a cis woman wants to take testosterone: 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Earlier this year, we published an article on how women are increasingly seeking out testosterone to help with energy or their sex lives. We followed up with one woman who went on testosterone to help with her menopausal symptoms. The effects had unexpected consequences for her marriage.

The New York Times is continuing to push their anti trans agenda.
I asked around and this does appear to be a deliberate style change. It wasn’t announced to staff, but contentious style changes often aren’t. They’re just imposed by the standards desk when they review a story. (Take that for what it is) This desk btw is run by Patrick Healy, no friend of trans ppl

I’ve said it before and I’ll said it again: Gender-affirming care is healthcare, period. It is evidence-based, backed by the American Medical Association, and helps trans individuals live their lives with the dignity we all deserve. Gender-affirming care saves lives.

It's crazy that labour is even more homophobic than reform.

This poll also shows how stupid it is that people believe parents are transing away the gay when they're far more transphobic than homophobic.
We really are a nation that loves animals and hates children. These figures are so shameful (via @natacha.bsky.social).

I am disgusted by how the government is describing children today.

I was a nonbinary kid in the eighties & nineties and adults weren’t this hateful. This is cheap political point-scoring.

Trans kids are kids.

We deserve care, inclusion and support. We deserve to thrive.

They never mention that key figures driving these bans are all connected to a global far right and reactionary movement to roll back gender rights. SEGM is the respectable face of this movement they use to undermine access to care. SEGM members have driven the bans on GAC in Europe and the US.

The ban in New Zealand was the result of a far right coalition party demanding it, not because of medical authorities implementing one. It's political but Azeen never mentions that context. The goal of this framing is to normalize bans to readers as if they're good faith rather than political.

One reason the NYT has burned its credibility with trans people is that they still cite the discredited Cass report in reporting on trans healthcare. Never the German, Utah, or other systematic reviews supporting care. They also never provide the political context behind restrictions in care.

This is disappointing.
The federal intimidation campaign to bully trans people out of existence won't work, but it will make life worse for people (especially children) while they try.

House Democrats just gave the corrupt Cuellar back an important committee seat.

Democratic leadership has the power to pressure membership when they want to, and shamefully decided against applying that pressure on this issue.

I'm looking forward to 2029 when we remove and destroy every aspect of Trump's name on federal property like US forces taking down everything with Saddam Hussein on it.

4 Republicans voting against is significant. There's leverage there. Somewhere. There's concern that this isn't a winning move in swing districts. Echoes of the Virginia election.
Just now, a national trans healthcare felony ban for youth has passed the US House, with 10 year prison terms.

3 Dems crossed party lines to vote to jail providers.

4 GOP crossed party lines to vote against.

It is not expected to pass the Senate, where Dems hold filibuster power.

Story to come.
