💥🇭🇺 For Hungary watchers: a detailed inside look at Viktor Orbán and his Fidesz party's recent internal crisis — how they underestimated opposition leader Péter Magyar and how all the traps they set for him backfired. Orbán's spring offensive against Magyar even caused tensions within the government.

In a strange way, I almost respect the fact they accept and tell you directly they are partisan paramilitaries
While masked agents were violently attacking a delivery worker this morning, bystanders repeatedly asked to see their badge numbers but they refused.

Bystander: You guys are ruining this country, you know that, right?

Agent: Liberals already ruined it.

And the irony is: We'll likely fuel more anti-American sentiments with this move than we would have if we'd never invested in foreign aid. Because broken trust hurts worse than no trust at all.
USAID is shutting its doors today--marking the end of democracy, diplomacy, and decency all in one fell swoop.

Ukraine has integrated its F-16 and Mirage 2000 jets into NATO’s Link-16 network, establishing a unified digital battlespace for real-time intelligence sharing among aircraft and allied air defenses. This integration significantly enhances coordination, survivability, and battlefield awareness.

My God. In Pryluky, a first responder arrived at the scene of a russian drone attack -- only to find the fire was in his own home. His wife, daughter Daryna, and infant grandson were murdered by russians. There are no words for this level of grief. Only rage.

❗️We're just €1,000 away from hitting €40,000 — an important marker on the road to full funding. Reaching it today would show the momentum behind this mission.

The Hungarian government is about to pass a law that will allow it to destroy the tiny online outlets that represent the last vestiges of independent Hungarian press

Viktor Orbán’s crackdown on free press does not only affect Hungary. It affects all of Europe
The so-called “Transparency Law”, currently pending approval, significantly undermines freedom of expression in Hungary — and its impacts are unlikely stop at the country’s borders.

This is why I don't buy the whole "We DOnT HVAe EnOuGh paTRIoT MiSsilES To GiVE UkRainE" thing. You do have enough, you have more than enough. You just really don't care that much.
I don't think I have ever posted this here, but this is something I completed as part of my PATRIOT digest. It shows Patriot missile procurement quantities I have been able to track down between 1979-2024 minus some missile expenditures between 1979-2022, not accounting for any donations to UKR.

Given that the whole escalation management crowd gives basically zero shits about two nuclear armed powers slinging conventional explosives at each other, I think it's fair to say you guys never actually cared about the risk of nuclear use, you just wanted Russia to win
Major airspace closures for civil aviation announced by both Pakistan (all airspace) and India (along the border with Pakistan) in the last few hours. We're possibly about to witness the start of the most intense and broad-spectrum direct conflict between two nuclear-armed states ever.

I think Dan is going to leapfrog Antonescu on these scores, but I'm afraid that Simion figure is definitely higher than I'd like it to be and I have a suspicion that it's not going to come down much.
Romania, 90.21% of votes counted:

Presidential election, first round today

Simion (AUR-ECR): 40%

Dan (*-RE): 20.4% (+0.5)
Ponta (*-S&D): 13.7% (-0.4)
Lasconi (USR-RE): 2.6%

People are trying to make sense of the recent cuts and I'm here to tell you stop trying. Cuts to JLTVs and new Humvees, so no focus on light units; Strykers are slated for cuts, so no focus on medium forces; M109, M1, AMPV and armor units are slated for cuts, so there isn't a focus on heavy forces.
