Anyone else grossed put by the prospect of an ‘agentic’ Windows experience?

Fox guest on how to save money during the holidays:

"Remember, adults don't need gifts. Focus on the people in your life who are aged 3 to 18. Grandma doesn't need slippers. If they don't live by you, don't get them a gift."

“Pluribus” takes the idealized dream of AI: all data linked, diffused agents coordinating and transferring skills, communication perfected as to render writing obsolete, the extreme automation of benevolent intelligence — and shows how, even if achieved perfectly, it’s still a horror story.

Watching Vince Gilligan go stupid with Apple’s money on practical sequences and crowd choreography is hilarious.

One of the things most quietly grieved amongst practitioners is the half-century of history and work in learning systems and technologies which have historically been categorized as “AI”, and they’ve all been run over by LLMs, and by the hype cycles the industry has *built* around LLMs. A huge loss.
There are quite a few ethical and justice oriented AI people who talk about having lifelong love for a vision of AI that is being trashed by the current thing, and I wonder if any of those positive visions have been articulated somewhere? What is it ppl think AI is supposed to be instead of this?

Fellow nerds: Rolled credits on FF7 Remake Intergrade this week and I’ve got FF7 Rebirth downloaded and ready to roll, BUT part of me feels compelled to push through the Yuffie interMISSION chapter.

Would I be missing anything special if I skipped it?

Do any of my people have a game that feel *enhanced* when drunk or otherwise altered?

“Tetris Effect” is a reliable go-to to unwind and I feel like I improve at fighters when I’m not overthinking it.

The way my nerves are shot at this trampoline park…my big girl is enjoying her friend’s birthday and I’m regretting leaving my headphones in the car.

To call these places overstimulating would be an understatement.

I’m a fan of Terrence Thornton the wordsmith, so I can say without a shadow of a doubt the man is *intentionally* performing a sort of incompetence around involved parenting.

“Let God Sort ‘Em Out” is one of my fac releases of the year, but the Gen X is showing HARD on Push with that post.
Pusha T and his wife Virginia are expecting a baby boy, Spring 2026. What a lovely message he wrote to her.

An Opinion Editor from the Washington Post was let go and nary a peep from many of her peers.

We know the game.
Can you imagine a woman of color, say a Black reporter, who was caught in an affair with a Presidential candidate THAT SHE WAS COVERING, getting completely rehabilitated less than a year later with a cushy new job and puff piece profile in the paper of record?

Nope.

Gonna be honest and say I don’t want to spend the day reading people quote posting each other and hankering on about how this or that person is having the wrongly calibrated reaction to a wildly surreal and massive info dump during what has already been a surreal year

The American penny died on Wednesday in Philadelphia. It was 232. The cause was irrelevance and expensiveness, the Treasury Department said. Nothing could be bought any more with a penny, as the cost to mint the penny had risen to more than 3 cents. nyti.ms/48bFd5K

James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Anyone else on my feed checking out “Pluribus” on Apple TV? Pilot was one of the most unsettling series premieres I’ve ever seen and can’t wait to watch episode 2 tonight.

Upside to watching the premiere episodes late? Less of a wait for episode 3 Friday!
