law & medicine, prev govt servant, bon vivant

C'est une maxime bien essentielle dans le gouvernement, de prévenir que les peuples ne tombent dans une sorte d'indifférence qui leur fasse penser qu'il est égal de vivre sous une domination ou sous une autre

I hate this urban tough-guy bullshit. America's dense walkable cities should be pleasant places where it's easy to raise a family without a car, not dilapidated shitholes where you prove how hardcore you are by ostentatiously tolerating inconvenience and disorder.

fascinated by a rhetorical strategy i see all the time now, which is making up an extreme edge case to argue against doing anything for the public good, and doing this from the putative left.

it is so important to remember that IN THE MOMENT there was no one who thought jan. 6 was some innocent protest gone awry. everyone recognized it for what it was.
At the time, everyone, including Republicans, understood how bad it was. Then, brick by brick, they built a foundation of lies to justify doing what they know, deep down, to be wrong. Trump betrayed the country. And so do they.

i think it is really strange how many of you responded to those posts — which were just observations about cooking at home — as a personal attack or a lecture about your behavior. if reading a short post about being economical with food drives you into a rage, that’s your issue, not mine

I need AI to filter out any social media post about sports. Word-specific filters are useless.

It’s a dumb movie because the central metaphor doesn’t work, the asteroid is easily comprehensible, the act of mitigating it involves minimal visible tradeoffs for the average person, and it impacts everyone equally, none of which are true about climate change.
i didn’t realize the movie “Don’t Look Up” had so many shooters. people coming out of the woodwork to denounce me as the worst person to live because i’m not a fan of bad satire
It hits to close to home, as you would act just like everyone else in the movie, only caring about your ladder climb to the top.

What could go wrong with

Because a documented majority of your [race/ethnic group/religion] was found to [do a thing I don’t like / participate in antisocial behavior / vote stupidly] you bear responsibly as an individual and should be judged accordingly; it’s your job to fix your people

??
Um... The majority of white voters ARE guilty here. The fact that some of y'all struggle with that doesn't change how they voted.

A better strategy would be for you to go argue with your relatives who voted for the fascist felon racist instead of us.

It’s so fucking degrading when you have a stereotypical dream like being back in high school or loosing your teeth. The deepest, darkest parts of your subconscious mind? Yeah, they’re really pretty basic. Comedians were making hacky jokes that described your most inner spaces perfectly, in the 90s.

These people are morons. Trust me we don’t want to be there with you either.
I cannot stand to watch my football teams with anyone other than my husband. Because inevitably there is someone there who insists on socializing. Please STFU while I’m psychically guiding my team to win.

This is all going to end very very badly. Just a question of when and how bad.

Hurt people hurt people. Or fantasize about others being hurt. There’s a lot going on which this, but part of it is trying to relive past abuse to rationalize it, or feel some control over what they couldn’t control before. Very sad. Get help before your brokenness makes you complicit in violence
Some people you come across you're just like, "mf you've never been punched in the face have you." And not like, glorifying violence, but I think you need to get punched a few times during your development. Not like hit by your parents or anything, just visceral consequences to keep you honest.

A statistic that stopped me in my tracks a few years ago: the average age of a GOP committee head is _thirty years_ younger than their Dem counterparts.

This isn’t a party that’s eating their seed corn: this is a party that finished the seed corn last year and is gnawing on the packing material.
it’s a problem writ large, everywhere, not just in politics. depriving people in their 30s and 40s and 50s of the opportunity to grow into leadership sets them up for failure because they will make all the same mistakes any new leader does, but the stakes will be higher
This is the worrying thing, right? Like these people are all mortal, much as they don't want to admit it. It would be great if they could start to do some succession planning for the party the rest of us are still going to have to live with once they finally leave.

Funny/sad to see the left do their inverse MAGA election denier fantasy with almost no self-awareness of how crazy they look. Remember what we all said to MAGA? Bring a court case, and we know you probably won’t because in your heart you know it’s bullshit. Masturbatory innuendo is more fun!

I don’t see that this violates 2A of the CG or any subsection of the TOS. You’d have to argue that accessing publicly posted material and commenting on it is itself harassment, which seems like a leap not contemplated by Bluesky. I think it’s a decent idea for a rule, but it doesn’t seem to be one
