I've gotten all these new followers and familiar faces showing up lately, and I love it. In lieu of introductions, do one thing for me:

Give me MUSIC.

Any genre, any era, any artist. Songs, whole albums, people not to miss live, I want it all.

I’ve modernized two biblical stories about feeding people.

Hopefully the nasty Christians who are disparaging SNAP recipients and laughing about them going hungry will learn

This is a profound insight. Few linguistic and discursive concepts are so profoundly infused with racism and classism as honesty, sincerity, authenticity, and transparency. The lower on the hierarchical ladder, the more likely you are judged to be preternaturally dishonest.
The thing they don’t want to voice is that racism is authenticity to them.

Can someone please explain the point of the No Kings rallies to me? What exactly is the demand being made? Gathering is all well and good, but it's not a movement unless there's a focused, actionable gain being sought and pursued, with contemporaneous, concordant action beyond the event.

Sweeps exacerbate homelessness — they can be traumatic, dangerous, and leave people without belongings and vital records.

Unhoused people need housing and services, not sweeps.

I come from and have chosen a family of artists. This is some of the most egregious cultural bullshit yet from this WH. Well, since the takeover of the Kennedy Center, anyway.

I have ZERO sympathy for lonely straight white dudes.

I grew up as a Black, queer, bipolar, Wiccan drama nerd, at predominantly white schools and then in predominantly white workplaces, in a Red State. if there was a way NOT to fit in, I was it, just by being myself. I wasn't making ACTIVE choices
No one gave a shit if a gay man was lonely navigating a homophobic society. No one gave a shit if a woman was lonely in an abusive marriage. No one ever gave a shit if the Black kid in a white school was lonely.

But we all need to care about straight white men being lonely.

Miss me with this bs.

Screw Colbert's cancellation.

Federal funding for the Corporation For Public Broadcasting was just gutted.

That should be terrifying to all of us.

That's PBS, NPR, and every single local affiliate.

Louisville Public Media, which runs my beloved WFPK, is facing nearly $400K in cuts.

Y'all remember when Michelle Obama was called everything but a child of God for wanting to improve school lunches and building a garden?

But a white man with fucking brain worms can do this.

People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it.

They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory.

Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human.

Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.

So, okay. People say they want younger Democratic leaders.

Lauren Underwood is 38.

HOWEVER.

Y'all whine and bitch when Underwood shows up and does her job. She gets bills passed-- actually passed, not just proposed-- that make life easier for parents and families.

Make it make sense.

the same psychic structure where just decades ago white people would string Black people up on trees, mutilate their body and torture them to death while an entire community of white people watched, had barbecues and cut off their extremities for souvenirs still exists. none of that went anywhere.

The context to this post doesn't even matter because it's so fundamentally true.
Really! On just about every stinking drug ad on television, possible side effects seem to include violent vomiting, bleeding through pores, needing to amputate two limbs, uncontrollable banshee screaming, vertigo, rampant diarrhea, speaking in Klingon, bank robbery, blackouts, and insatiable hunger

This is the stupidest thing I've read so far today. To be fair. I just woke up, there's time for someone to top a journalist who doesn't understand the fundamental role of headlines in journalism.
mostly I think we just want you to read past the headline and into all the stuff we care the most about — the details!

@annegolden.bsky.social we just became mutuals and I noticed you had Antioch in your profile. I'd love to hear more sometime. I only visited briefly in 2000, while I was at Earlham. The whole vibe of the town was amazing and the stories I heard were wild.

Black Panther is still one of the most visually arresting, gorgeous films I've ever seen. Every frame is so full of color, detail, and light. Even on television, it gives me a sense of the same chills I felt in the theater, the same sense of amazement. The same feeling of seeing and being seen.

Living in the Louisville Metro this weekend is so surreal. I just made my first ever real Derby bet thanks to a friend who's at the track today. At the same time, it's impossible not to think about the role immigration plays in keeping the racing industry going. How many people cheering voted

The idea of people refusing to vote bc they don’t want to compromise themselves morally is utterly foreign to Black folks, bc only an extreme amount of privilege makes it possible for people to treat voting as a statement of virtue rather than a tool to improve the material conditions of others.

I almost never repost GFMs but this is Meghan and she nearly lost one of her kids to suicide.

If you know her from the other place, you know how dear her family is to her, and how warm, caring, and fierce they all are.

Give if you can, share if you can't, please.
I know it's been awhile... and I'm not myself right now... but apparently grief & abject terror is what it takes to make me willing to juggling a second platform

Sometimes in this fast-moving and complex modern world, it’s hard to know what’s right and what’s wrong. But here’s a handy rule of thumb: If you are ever on one side of an issue, and Sesame Street is on the other, YOU’RE the bad guy.

The white people loudly suggesting the great Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Vice Ranking Member of the House Oversight Committee, should be President in 2028, are the same who said Stacey Abrams, Karen Bass, Barbara Lee, & Val Demings should’ve been VP & then didn’t support them in races.
