Idi Amin deported 80,000 Asians from Uganda in 1972. So although the Conservatives want to propose the first mass deportation of legal migrants since Idi Amin - especially with the retrospective changes in ILR - Lam is proposing to deport 20 times as many people as Idi Amin.

Prediction: The Architect for Trump’s ballroom extension will turn out to be played by the same bloke that played his ‘Lawyer’ and ‘Doctor’
Oh my god is the firm they hired even a real architecture firm? Their website appears to consist of exactly one (1) webpage which is mostly just a slideshow of their mediocre 3D renderings from Lumion or whatever. No staff headshots page. No “projects” portfolio page. Lmao dude

I thought Prince Andrew would find it difficult to give up all his titles but to be fair to him, he’s managed it no sweat

No need for a moral panic about the welfare system
It’s far from perfect, but the UK’s spending is broadly controlled and employment is high

‘Ketchup? Catsup? Ketchup? Catsup?’
what's the stupidest/randomest Simpsons quote that lives in your head rent free? Mine is the urge to say "you said go to bread" every time I am about to head to bed.

Next week "Mark Steel's in Town" is from Oakham.
But, no, Oakham is NOT "proudly twinned with Paris" - that is the small village of Whitwell (even if the Parisians don’t know).

I’m sure it’s a completely different experience if you actually get replies (I don’) but I still find complaining about replies on a mass social media site completely ridiculous, like complaining about getting your hair wet in a swimming pool
The comments here are an amazing study in 'people who mistake someone doing a topical gag for a "what if we repeated the same joke, but in a way that's worse" workshopping event, with a breakout "explaining flaws in the logistics of the joke like it's a real thing" group'
