Hello. There seems to be another surge of new followers recently so let me re-introduce myself. I am a nature lover living in beautiful Nagano, Japan. Bilingual in English & Japanese. I take photos of lichens, bugs, and plants, and post them on bluesky.

25年11月14日(金)、1.2℃。ちょうど霧がまいてきて風景がぼやけてきた。
Morning scenery. Indigo sky gradating to orange toward the horizon. Distant mountains have cloud shrouds. Mist is coming in so things are slightly hazy. Landscape in silhouette.

メディアミックス戦略が大当たりし、原作の横溝正史は76年当時、〈忘れられた存在だった〉が本作で復活して、〈横溝正史ブーム〉を巻き起こした（村山匡一郎「週刊20世紀」1976年号）。

C. militaris is a parasitic fungus that infects insect larvae, replacing the host's tissue to grow and eventually sprout from the host's body to release its spores.

A late autumn photo of some snowberry bushes. The leaves have fallen off but the small clusters of white berries are still there on the dark brown twigs. A couple of clusters are in focus in the foreground, all the rest are much further back and out of focus. A few drops of water are hanging on the underside of the berries, hinting that it is or recently has been raining. iPhone photo, 2017.

A fungus, possibly Tetrapyrgos alba, with a beard lichen, Usnea sp., growing on ʻōhiʻa, Metrosideros polymorpha. Waikahekaheiki, Puna, Hawaiʻi.
A small, transluscent white mushroom grows alongside a jointed, light green, branched lichen on a rough-barked log.

Find old decayed stumps (left photo) and there's a good chance it will be covered with moss and #lichen, especially pixie cup lichen. Note the numerous light green 'eyelashes', zoomed in on right photo. These are named Smooth-footed Powderhorn lichen. Found: Pacific NW and eastern U.S.
Smooth-footed Powderhorn reaches a height of about one inch. Colored a gray-green. The unbranched podetia (stem) equal in diameter until coming to a crude point/unfinished cup. Grows in shade and exposed environs of diverse forest types. Substrates include rotten wood, humus and soil. Reference: Macrolichens of the Pacific Northwest by B. McCune and L. Geiser (2009).

With careful examination I was able to capture the fleeting C+ red fitting to Micarea denigrata #lichen.
Before C C starting to diffuse in from the top left washing away conidia to the right. Faint red reaction in the tissue in the top left now reaction in the centre tissue with the red in the top left already mostly faded (2 seconds after the previous picture) All C reaction faded.

Pertusaria sp., possibly P. variolina but I’m not sure. When you get into them, Pertuaria are difficult to ID. Ikenotaira, Tomi, Nagano #Lichen #FungiFriends

Tiny fruits of silver vine or matatabi (Actinidia polygama). The wood part is supposed to have intoxicating effect on cats, so I took some home and gave it to Mimaki. He showed no response. Tokikubo, Komoro, Nagano #Plants #Botany

The tiny, underdeveloped fruit of matatabi on a vine. The fruit is translucent yellow-green with pointed end. On the top are four calyxes. The leaves are turning yellow. The vine is red-brown.
