It is a sad day for medical physics. I am very sad to hear Dr Adel Mustafa passed today. I had so many good memories traveling together to speak at workshops under the suspicious of @aapmHQ

We both did workshops together in Alegeria, Turkey, Brazil & even Cuba (2002).

Small cell lung cancer represents 10% to 15% of all lung cancers w ~16 000 cases diagnosed in US in 2024.

Average age at diagnosis is about 69 years- more common among men than women.

Main cause in 95% is history of tobacco smoking.

Had a nice opportunity to meet w current officers of @trueMACAAPM chapter of @aapmhq.bsky.social & other emerging medical physicists.

Equally nice was meeting Hamid Aghdam, chapter president 2003 (2 years after I had served) recalling how much time we had spent together for the chapter!
