Law enforcement officers arrested both Wong and the unidentified man soon after the man had briefly escaped. After Wong's arrest, law enforcement officers drove her to a Southampton police station for processing, according to the complaint. During the drive to the station, prosecutors say she made statements to officers about immigration enforcement, including, "Why are you doing this to your people?" and "What are you going to tell your children about what you do?" The federal charge against Mayorga-Wong was filed Thursday in the Eastern District of New York. She is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in federal court in Central Islip. Her attorney's information was not immediately available.

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.
