Here in Broadview, outside Chicago, a large group of faith leaders & protesters have gathered this morning outside of ICE’s detention center.

This looks like one of the largest protests on Beach St. in weeks, where the city of Broadview is still enforcing a small “free speech” zone. It’s packed.

I think it’s worth noting that DHS in fact did NOT defend Bovino.

“Bovino accused a man of doing something it seems he never did. Comment?”

“He’s a cool dude” is actually the sort of non-answer that is an answer, which is DHS saying “yeah, we got nothing.”
I have been a reporter for close to 40 years, including stints covering police and the courts. This thing, from the president down, of accusing people of crimes when not charged: That did not used to be a thing. Authorities don’t do that because it is unfair and leads to cases being tossed.
