Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson temporarily blocked a ruling that required Trump to fully fund SNAP because she’s playing chess, not checkers. She sent it back to the lower courts for a reason. 👀

He knows he’s about to lose and the economy is breaking. Now when we’re officially in a recession he’ll blame the courts for taking the tariffs away.

Trump was told to pay out by two courts and kept appealing until scotus said it was fine for the moment to starve people
I think one thing we lose sight of is that it’s really easy to chant that we gotta touch the stove, and it’s a completely different thing to be the owner of the ongoing decision that 40 million people gotta go hungry. That’s a heavy thing and I’m not at all surprised that some Dems are worried.

King’s point is that it didn’t work because Trump was cutting SNAP benefits. But lower courts had required Trump to pay full SNAP, and while Trump *probably* would have won at SCOTUS, that outcome wasn’t guaranteed and would have been known soon anyway.

They watched Trump fight the courts to withhold SNAP.
His reckless cruelty was becoming apparent to members of his own cult.
So what did Democrats do with this newfound momentum?
Yesterday, they doused it in gasoline and lit it on fire.

We had all the momentum
•The American people were blaming Republicans
•A landslide Democratic victory
•Courts ordering Trump to fund SNAP benefits
Yet you couldn't convince your caucus to fight for us
It's the final straw that breaks the back of your tenure as leader, Senator

So Democrats get:
1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays
2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail
3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts
Those all seem like wins for the GOP.
