So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

Got a new one today when the press secretary accused him of being a "human trafficker" just absolutely out of thin air!
Just so we’re clear, everybody calling Kilmar Abrego Garcia a “terrorist” or a “gang member” are lying, and they know they’re lying, and they repeat it for purposes of confusing people who don’t follow this stuff closely into accepting what was done to him.

We are now at the point where the AP can write this as if its a simple background fact and it sparks no outrage: "Trump has made no secret of his plans to use the power of the federal government to target domestic political adversaries."

I'm biased, but this episode of Opening Arguments @openargs.bsky.social featuring @lizskeen.bsky.social is awesome 💫
Terrific if dispiriting episode. Liz reminds audience that 47 admin is actually afraid of
competent lawyers which makes Paul,Weiss capitulation so pathetic. @mattcameron.bsky.social offers historical note abt 3rd Reich’s need to get rid of lawyers who didn’t capitulate.
Hey everybody, please welcome actual friend of the show Liz Skeen to Bluesky and be sure to check out her NYC perspective on the Paul Weiss fiasco (and Trump's war on lawyers generally) on today's episode!

I guarantee by next week, in exchange for tariff relief, Trump will be demanding from companies political donations to far right causes, rollbacks of DEI, purging LGBTQ employees, and cessation of funding to civil society orgs that support progressive causes.
These tariffs are going to be one of the most corrupt extortion rackets ever conceived of. Any industry that wants to be exempted will be forced to donate to Trump or otherwise bribe him. Political allies will be spared while opponents will not.

honestly surprised I haven't seen more "war on workers" rhetoric.
The Trump admin just illegally stripped collective bargaining rights from hundreds of thousands of federal workers in 18 different departments across multiple agencies.

The regime stated that “Certain Federal unions have declared war on President Trump’s agenda.”

Was wondering who WilmerHale would get to defend against Trump’s EO and never did think it would be Paul “I hate the possibility of gay marriage so much I’m quitting my law firm to argue in favor of DOMA for House Republicans in front of SCOTUS” Clement
