Working with our partners in IL AG Raoul’s office, we did everything we could to bolster our case in Court. We believed we could win - we did not give in to fatalistic thinking. I’m not defending the court btw - they’ve done some horrible things - but we believed a win like this was still possible.

In case people tell you that public criticism of the court doesn’t matter, here’s Brett Kavanaugh trying to walk back what he said in the ICE roving patrol case - when he blessed racial profiling & called the stops prompt.

He was lambasted; @akalhan.bsky.social coined the term “Kavanaugh stops”

lots of takeaways from the 60 Minutes debacle, but here's one: support investigative journalism, public media and human rights NGOs! with one week left in the year, give now as much as you can, b/c independent voices are more important than ever.

I highly recommend watching this segment, not just because the CBS News execs and the White House didn’t want you to, but because these men were tortured and they deserved to have their voices heard.

Hate to say it, but you should no longer trust anything from CBS News. I'm sure there are great reporters there trying to do honest work, but how can we know anymore? If they're willing to kill a Trump-critical 60 Minutes segment at the order of Bari Weiss, it's been over.
