I am certainly no seasoned strategist but I am a little skeptical of the political wisdom behind building a giant golden ballroom and sharing a dozen photos of a renovated marble bathroom at the very moment that millions of people are losing access to healthcare and food.

Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

Any UK publishers up 👀
I can't get over this gesture of generosity.

I wanted to read this book, but it's surprisingly not yet available in the UK. I wrote to author @lydiakiesling.bsky.social to ask if I had that right, and she mailed me a copy!

UK publishers, pick up this title! There's clearly an audience for it here.

The President wants to use the military to crack down on Americans who are exercising their 1st Amendment rights to oppose him. I can’t think of a better reason to insist on exercising those rights.

Good, careful analysis of the Administration’s indifference to internal legal constraint. Because there is (and inevitably must be) so much the Executive Branch does without external review, this indifference is, in itself, a “constitutional crisis.”

The White House has made no legal argument explaining its bald claim that the president has wartime power to summarily kill people suspected of smuggling drugs.
