“As chunks of rotting salmon from a massive fish die-off wash up on the shores of Tasmania’s pristine beaches, the Albanese government rammed legislation to shield the salmon industry through Parliament within 48 hours, with the support of the Coalition.”

Replacement buses on the Werribee line due to unforeseen fuckery, but don’t worry, the website hasn’t been updated to reflect that!

I went to a work event in Hobart on Friday, and “none of the salmon is local” was the rallying cry of the caterers.
Lobster fishery off Bruny Island in TAS closed on eve of the opening of fishing season due to antibiotic use by the salmon farms.
No indication of how long for. Must be a devastating blow for fishermen approaching Xmas.

Late and off-format, but here's this week's Escapist Routes, where the only thing I have watched is Sarah Snook's wine mom thriller. Which I enjoyed, even though it was super dumb.

Okay, I’m gonna say something nice about QANTASLink. This Airbus A220 is way nicer than Virgin’s Boeings, and I dig the free WiFi.

Man, even Qantas’s bag drop is inferior to Virgin’s. Even the baggage tags are less well-designed!

Is it perimenopause when you have to bring a special, heavier moisturiser when you're staying at a hotel because your regular one can't compete with the climate control's dryness?

Got to Hobart, had a couple of hours to kill before my room was ready, so I meandered down to the Hobart Book Shop and spent $80. (I was going to say "accidentally", but this was very much planned and budgeted for.) Found a middle grade novel about the Dismissal, which I'm super excited to read.
